    R.E.M. breaks up.
How many people were really aware that they are still a band?

I was a huge R.E.M. fan, loved them in the 80's. 90's albums are OK. Their CDs since 1999 have been just short of awful.

This has to be the most anti-climatic break up in the history of music. Unless maybe the reunited Pink Floyd is thinking of calling it quits.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
    I can't run no more
    With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
    Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
    A thundercloud
They're going to hear from me - Leonard Cohen

I think Michael Stipe might be gay.

Kinda makes you re-think the lyrics to "Pretty Persuasion," doesn't it??

Damn. Just when I was getting close to figuring out the lyrics on Murmur.

That boy needs to get the marbles out of his mouth

"Multiply, Katy blossom kitchen sink but not mary ann,
sitting top of the big key,
                    wasting time, sitting still"

These things they go away, replaced by everyday.

I love all the early stuff....started losing interest in the new material at the start of the 21st century.

Life's Rich Pageant is fantastic...but I loved Document, Green, Monster...all of them had some great music.
