I'm from the Maritimes of Canada. I'm an Irish Canadian. To not dance would place me in a wheel chair due to the depression alone. Damn we sing and dance alot. Without that... OUR Spirits would shrink; be akin to a three week old mushroom hanging over a wood stove.

Now about learning how to dance, you either watch others or take lessons or find a super nice dance partner who knows all the turns and have patient to teach you. You can also add other moves, ballet, tai chi, aerobics, moves, whatever you feel expressing with your body, just remember to go along with the music and your inner feelings. If your inner feelings go too wild, save that song for your private expressions.

Hi Marygrace, you could probably advertise for one on whatever form of ad you may use there, or put up Flyers with your contacts so they can reach you. You should never give out your private number or address only use your mobile phone number. Okay? hope you will find some solution with all the ideas and suggestions which are given here. Jonas 22nd Oct 2011 Report Abuse Delete Share First: choose a good dance teacher, probably some excelent dancers aren't for sure the best teachers, don't be fan of how well dances your teacher, be fan of how well he (she) teaches you to dance...
Second: group classes are good social moments, you can meet people and enpower your selfestime, however you can also have individual classes ore choose a partner and go with him (her) to private classes for you both.
Third: dance like you are free to make foolish things, be healthy, wealthy and wise through dance, be cheerfull, happy, sexy and just live!

Will 6th Oct 2011 Report Abuse Delete Share Learn rhythm and how to count a beat through a song, these are not difficult to teach but it saves a lot of time if you learn how yourself, and is probably the most overlooked thing in dancing. After you have learned this, either lookup instructional videos or attend a class, it's best to avoid classes who teach through routines only, and find classes who teach through exercise and technique.

These games will be old but are great tools to get down basic rythmn. You'll be surprise how corrdinated your dance steps will get once you start learning to dance on beat to music.

Ray (with reference to IT, Dance) 28th Sep 2011 Report Abuse Delete Share First, you have to have rhythm - if you don't; you will need to practice some exercises that will teach you how to identify rhythm in songs and tunes and then learn to move with it - get some dance lessons (Tango, Waltz, Salsa, Buchata, etc...) then a little courage to get yerself on the floor! XD

The main 2 things :-get a good partner, or learn with a regular partner & make sure you have rhythm, without rhythm you will never be good at dancing . Some people do not have it sadly, we say they have two left feet
Dancing is a lovely passtime , you meet lovely people and it keeps you very fit while enjoying it.

Cats are naturally curious if not pleasing but to lure the wifey in with that saber dance and be naked to boot. That's impressive for sure. MJ I have a new kitten that I raised from birth. She's a lovely 'black and white'. I named her Molly. She dances with me all the time; often on her hind legs. When she gets a little older I'll teach her some Martial Arts. Maybe a cooking lesson or two. She's a darn good alarm clock already; and greets me at the front door on arrival like a dog. Molly always entertaining will adapt very well to dance lessons.

Molly is very special.
