  • Art - a question

I have a framed very large photo that is "supposed" to be worth something. Anyone have any ideas on how to find out if it's worth anything?

The story: I bought it about 18 years ago at an auction from some friends of mine. He and her were just married a couple years and the woman had acquired it a few years prior to that from an ex-boyfriend when she lived with him in Florida. He was an artsy sort of fella and when he gave it to her told her to hang on to it as it will be worth something someday. They sold it because her hubby did not want it around....partly because it came from him....partly because I guess he just didn't like it.

The only identifiable thing I can find on it is it was from the Chicago International Film Festival.

Where would one take something like this to see if it has any value?

Unless you're talking about porn or a photo of Ray Nitschki, I don't think this forum will be a hotbed of ideas.

True! BUT, if it helps the 2 men and 1 woman in the print are naked!! However, it's done very tastefully and you can only see shadows and also the outline of her breast. The 2 guys each have an awesome 6 pack though!!

I brought it up during a work meeting today and got some suggestions. I'll let you know if I'm a millionaire!

If you find a painting with just naked women in it, there's someone here who would pay you big money for it.
        I can't run no more
        With that lawless crowd
While the killers in high places
        Say their prayers out loud
But they've summoned, they've summoned up
        A thundercloud
They're going to hear from me - Leonard Cohen

Go to the Chicago International Film Festival.
Willing to say it was about something to do with the the Itallian film Garden of the Finzi Cortinnies.
Rotten Tomatoes might have a go if you sent them a pic.

Usually it's women giving birth and/or hanging out with angels. Someties, like in this Renoir, it's three chicks. This one is entitled "The Bikini Ladies, sans bikinis, circa 1885"
