Well, thanks for all the suggestions guys but I didn't even get to try any of it. Whatever that thing was shut everything down.
And yes, I took it somewhere to get fixed and costs me too much money!!!!!!!
Guess I need to find me a computer tech guy...haha
So yes, I am always very careful not to click on bs stuff, I don't go to porn sites ....but I do have a 16 yr old son lol But seriously he hardly EVER uses the PS. Everything he does on the net he uses his phone.
So how did I get that thing???????
I would have just followed Tarlam's advise and just got a new computer cause this one is getting old but it was bad timing with x-mas. Got my daughter a laptop for x-mas since she will need it for college next year.
So anyway, I'm back
Over a week without the internet. ugh!
I don't want this again.............what can I do to protect myself better?

there's almost no way to avoid that shit these days. its not if, but when. i never click on any pop ups and never go to porn sites i haven't been to a thousand times before, and i never open email from anyone that i don't know
i also run spybot and malwarebytes all the time and have norton running nonstop
and i still get shit
so just hope its a small one that doesn't completely destroy your computer or take a whole day to remove

Like that other homo said, there's really no way to avoid it these days. The best answer is to try to protect yourself using the suggestions above, but more importantly, back up anything you want to keep on a weekly basis so next time you can just re-install windows and put your files back on.Originally posted by GrnBay007 View PostWell, thanks for all the suggestions guys but I didn't even get to try any of it. Not if it's the "security" virus. It's not really that hard to remove if you want.Originally posted by Jeffro66 View PostThis virus appeared on my comp. a few days ago. I'm just gonna replace it. I have some pics I'd like to save to a flash drive. Do I run a risk of bringing this bug with them?
Win 7 Security 2012 is a variant of the 2012 name-changing rogue program that changes its name randomly depending on the version of Windows it is installed on. This guide will cover the variant of the 2012 name changing rogue called Win 7 Security 2012. This rogue is promoted in two ways. The first is through the use of fake online antivirus scanners that state that your computer is infected and then prompt you to download a file that will install the infection. The other method are hacked web sites that attempt to exploit vulnerabilities in programs that you are running on your computer to install the infection without your knowledge or permission.
Doesn't matter what version of windows you have, the instructions are the same."You're all very smart, and I'm very dumb." - Partial
