Of course not. What publication in its right mind would hire someone and then try to hush him up about it. A newspaper hires you, they want you to put it on Facebook, Twitter, write to everyone you know, tell your mom's bridge club and stop random strangers on the street. And that's just for starters. Secondly, they wouldn't be able to control what you post on your own time and under a pseudonym at that. They'd likely tell you to post more and put a link to your blog at the paper in your signature.
