  • What was the last good movie you saw?

To hell with the genre or decade. What have you seen recently that you enjoyed and would recommend?

    I"ll go first:

    13 Assassins.

Morality tale set in 19th century Japan with one of the longest battle scenes, ever.

    Highly recommend.

          Hangover: solid.
          GWTDT (Swedish version): stellar.
Bridesmaids I've heard good stuff about.
Schultze Gets the Blues will go into Queue.

          Keep 'em comin'!

            Bullhead

It's funny that they didn't show any scenes with dialogue in the american trailer. Don't want to scare them away with the Limburg dialect, I guess.

Here's the original one with subtitles -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gc0y8atg_z8

I couldn't take "the Hangover" because I could see all the jokes coming. I would have liked it much more if I didn't go in expecting a laugh riot. High expectatins spoil movies, never read reviews beforehand.

Speaking of Zach Galifianakis, the comedy central awards show sunday night was pretty funny, and ZG's "Between the Ferns" preview was hilarious.

"Midnight in Paris" was pretty good. Sadly, I can't remember the last time I went to an excellent movie.

You and I couldn't have more differing opinions in movies. I was pissed I sat through that movie.

                50/50 is very good
                GWTDT is good, either version
                The Descendants also very good
                Hurt Locker
Crazy Stupid Love is the last comedy I watched that wasn't 100% obvious

Last night I tried to watch New Years Eve. Made it roughly 20 minutes.

I see tons of movies with 'my LOVE' Mae.

There is so much that's unrewarding but three I saw within the last year that I enjoyed:

                  1) * The movie 'Warrior' was IMO violent but excellent DRAMA. serious DRAMA but I love Martial Arts.

                  ** Rated Highly at 8.2/10.

** See 'The Shawshank Redemption' below.

2 ) I enjoyed the laughs with the movie 'Horrible Boss's' Rated 7.0/10:

                  3) The other is the movie 'The Town'. Ben Affleck's directorial debut. A cool movie. Rated 7.6/10.

All three rank favorably with my ALL TIME Favourite... The Shawshank Redemtion that's really tough to beat. Rated 9.2 /10.

If you missed it I recomment 'The Hurt Locker'. It was a surprizing Academy Award winner but when I left the theater I said to the person that viewed it with me. That wins the BEST Picture category. That movie tests your nerves.

                  and these two are good;

Denzel Washington, Clive Owen and Jodie Foster in the inside man:

and 'Panic Room' Rated 6.8/10 ... stars Jodie Foster, Kristen Stewart and Forest Whitaker and the very worst villian
                  Dwight Yoakam:

The Descendants was good....I think you either love or hate that guy who did this movie (Sideways, etc.)
Lives of Others (all time favorite)
After lunch the players lounged about the hotel patio watching the surf fling white plumes high against the darkening sky. Clouds were piling up in the west… Vince Lombardi frowned.

Sideways was good comedy. "Lives of Others" might be best movie I saw in last 10 years.

"Win Win" was not great, wrasslin movie with Paul Giamati, but I guess that is the best I've seen in last couple years.

Win Win was pretty good. I did like the Descendents, I haven't seen Crazy Stupid Love. Might have to check it out.

Seriously? This list of crap is the best that this group of (whom I thought were) intelligent individuals could come up with? JHC... there is no God....

and yes, that was one of the last good movies I saw..... most current movies suck in the opinion of this most opinionated bitch...deal

I thought The Wrestler & Inception were really nice cinematic experiences but the last movie that absolutely blew me away was Old Boy in 2003. Man, that was something else.

Went to the movies multiple times a week when I was a student, but the last couple of years I hardly ever get there. Prices have gone up incredibly as well; a ticket costs about $12 over here and they charge extra if it's a long/popular movie and if it's 3D.

Didn't see Life of others, but heard nothing but good about it. Others on my list (recommended by friends):
Melancholia (and all other movies of Von Trier)
We need to talk about kevin
                            Carnage
                            Le gamin au vélo
                            Essential Killing
