  • Question about Meth...

Okay, I'll plead ignorance. I'm not up on illicit drugs.

What the heck does Meth do to a person? What are the lesions that occur on people's faces?

Look at this slide show and tell me about it.

I never got any pics to show on that slideshow.

I've heard different things about the sores that meth users get. I've heard they feel they have bugs crawling under their skin and the sores come from constant scratching/picking to get rid of them. Some laugh at that and say they've never experienced the whole "meth bug" thing. I've heard when using they become completely focused on certain things and obsess about it, like they may "see" 10 blackheads on their face and spend hours picking at their face to remove these blackheads. Or they believe they have an ingrown hair on their arm and pick at it until the skin is raw. The sores often get infected due to poor hygiene, as many times when they are on a high they don't pay attention to hygiene. And I've also heard the sores start from the toxins exiting the body through pores.

    All very glamorous, eh?

Give it another try. There are both arrows and thumbnails used for navigation.

The photos are jaring. No kidding. These people are killing themselves.

Read an article a couple weeks ago describing meth. It's sort of like cocaine in that it causes your body to release dopamine but in 4-10 times the amount that coke does flooding your dopamine receptors. This damages the dopamine receptors so after some prolonged use, they are less able to receive the dopamine causing the user to use more in order to feel the high.

Eventually, they are smoking/snorting to just feel normal and that is the addiction. With the receptors damaged they are unable to feel happiness from the usual things in life so they become depressed and suicidal. Receptors can grow back over time but never to full capacity.

do people look like hell because the meth is eating them away, or are they just not eating anymore?

whatever the reason, that shits scary. i have no desire to even try the stuff after seeing what it does to everyone that touches it

A lot of those 'before' pictures aren't so hot, either.

But in some cases meth abuse actually seems to result in improvement.

                  Meth bugs and/or mites

"They scratch, pick and dig the spots, trying to relieve the itching. Many people feel a sensation of small bugs, known as "Meth Mites or Bugs", moving right under their skin."

                  The Meth Mouth

"Unlike other drugs or vices in most dentists' memories, methamphetamine seems to be taking a unique and horrific toll
inside its users' mouths. In short stretches of time, sometimes just months, a perfectly healthy set of teeth can turn grayish-brown, twist and begin to fall out, and take on a texture less like that of hard enamel and more like a piece of ripened fruit."

Meth mouth is very gross and I read also the destruction can start a very short time after using it. Apparently they get a very dry mouth...no saliva and that starts the process. Also I think when they are coming down they crave sugar like crazy....sugary pop and candy.

I've never seen sores that look anything like that picture. I've seen multiple sores on the arms and face that are about the size of a dime to a quarter.

Our DTF says the very first meth high is so incredible the users are from then on chasing that same high and will never get quite that same high.....but keep chasing it.

They go days and days without eating and then they crash for days and do nothing but sleep. (most often)
