Martin Kaymer was not as sharp as his record-setting first two rounds, but after dodging a few bullets and mitigating the damage, he finished with a birdie to take 5-shot 54-hole lead at the U.S. Open.

I was disappointed that it was such an easy win for Kaymer. I like Kaymer and don't mind that he won, but I would like to have seen someone make a run, and at least make it interesting.

Fowler, Johnson, Compton and Stenson all had their chances, but they all folded; while Kaymer just kept the momentum going, and when he got in trouble, he played smart and didn't try to make the impossible shot - like all of us amatuers would, lol...

The thing I love about the U.S. Open is all the drama that usually results from near impossible conditions - but that didn't happen this year, as Kaymer essentially had it wrapped up on Friday.

I felt the usually strangling "ROUGH" wasn't present this year.

The rough might have been 8-14 inch's high but it was sparse.

I'm wondering how the course will be set up for the LPGA Women's Open.

I must check in on that today. I was busy yesterday detailing cars and and trying to watch the World Cup.
