I really liked the Hag.

He was the real deal, there were dozens of "outlaw" country guys, but Merle had done a stretch in San Quentin.

In his latter years, he was such a crabby old fuck.

Once I saw this slick MC type guy interview Merle.

He asked the Hag, "Merle, I bet you love being an 'International County Star".

The Hag looked at him and said, "No, I don't. Strangers just come up to you and ask you questions, bothering you. Trying to give you things, you don't even want". Merle made it clear the questioner was part of "the problem".

Mae and I entertained for dinner here last week on the day we learned of his passing and over the course of preparing and serving the meal and into that evening......I played the Meryl Haggard play list post ...see NO. 6.
