What kind of music are they going to play? What kind of market do they want to hit? Band name is sooooo very important.

I was always fond of Distinctive Stink...or spelling variations thereof. Works with your kids' "smelly sneakers" idea, but a litle more grungy.Originally posted by Tarlam!Um, because they wanna call themselves the "Smelly Sneakers". I dunno, maybe that's good?Originally posted by SkinBasket DiseaseHow about... you let them pick? You try to force a name on a band and you're asking for trouble.

Well, The Doors were historically significant because they had talent. Same with The Beatles. Neither had very interesting names, if you ask me.Originally posted by Tarlam!Ya, but where is the truth in that name??Originally posted by MJZiggyFor a teenie bopper band it's kinda cute. They can wear Converse tennies to all their gigs.
I want sumpen that will be historically significant, like The Doors....
Find a name that has signficance to the type of music you want to play, the image the band wants to portray, and perhaps something that has sentimentality to the band. It's got to be a name that rolls off the tongue and is marketable. "Smelly Sneakers" is cute, but it sounds like a college alt-rock band to me. Now, "Sneaker Pimps", a band from England, had a cool name. I'd suggest you take the sneakers idea and run with it, only try to throw in more detail.
The band I manage is named Perfect Enemy (we used to be Sound And Fury, but lost the copyright). Voltaire once said "Perfect is the enemy of good." It has significance because of the market we play in and the content of our music. It's also in the lyrics of one of our favorite bands, A Perfect Circle.
Just some thoughts.
