Many may not know of him, but he was a phenomenal jazz artist. However, his claim to fame was that he wrote a lot of the Schoolhouse Rock stuff. My wife grew up down the street from where he lived in PA, her parents and him were good friends and he was the one who taught her piano. He swung through MN on a tour about 2 years ago and she and her mom got to go see him. He came right over to their table after a set and they got to catch up. One of her most cherished memories.
