I saw the last few minutes of some sort of documentary film on the guy. I found myself straining to understand the deep affection people have for him. In private people may learn to uncover the goodness in a freaky dude. And why is he so freaky? Is he autistic? Is he a broken genius? A socially awkward savant? I never really found out.
To me he is the musical equivalent of Grandma Moses: his creations speak to everyone but he creates in a unique, self-taught style.
