It's worse when you remember that your family owned a Vega.

The Vega had major mechanical problems with the engines. If I remember correctly, GM tried to put aluminum cyliner heads on a cast iron block.

A co-worker of mine had the misfortune of owning a Vega. I remember her chastising me for owning a foreign-made Datsun pickup while she owned an American-made Vega. If the two years we worked together, her car was constantly in the shop. My Japanese truck hummed along the entire stretch with no repairs, except the scheduled maintenance.
