I read through two pages of this stuff and never came across any bestiality or necrophilia. What the hell? Things must be slowing down in Wisconsin.

Man accused of guzzling alcohol in Wal-Mart liquor aisle

        The Associated Press

MUKWONAGO — A man told police he couldn’t help himself when he took seven bottles of a spiked lemonade drink from the shelf at a Wal-Mart Supercenter and drank them in the liquor aisle.

Police Chief Fred Winchowky said the 43-year-old town of Eagle man claimed he was a recovering alcoholic and had been dry for 16 months before he went to the store Oct. 14 with his wife, who was not aware of what he was doing.

“He went down that aisle and he said ’I just couldn’t control myself,“’ Winchowky said. “He stated he was upset he broke his 16-month streak and he didn’t know how he was going to tell his wife.”

The chief said security video caught the man drinking the 12-ounce bottles of Jack Daniels Lynchburg Lemonade over a 15-minute period. He placed the empty bottles back on the shelf.

Confronted by a store official, he first denied it but smelled of intoxicants, Winchowky said.

The man was cited for retail theft.

Is Milwaukee trying to upstage Detroit?

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police said 11 people were shot in three separate incidents in a 90-minute period on the city's north side.

The first shooting occurred just after 1 a.m. Saturday morning.

Police said four people were shot at the Autumn Lounge near Teutonia Avenue and Clarke Street.

The fight started inside the bar then spilled out into the street.

The second shooting occurred just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police said six people were shot at Ike's Lounge near 24th Street and Garfield Avenue.

One of the victims is in critical condition.

The last shooting also happened near Teutonia Avenue and Clarke Street.

Police said a 45-year-old man was shot in the stomach while walking down the street.

Police have no suspects in custody.

They said they do not believe the shootings were related.

I hate this city. Last spring I remember commenting to Nutz about the crime and how I didn't think it was so bad. Boy, was I ever wrong. Now that I am down there 12+ hours a day you truly see and hear the horror stories. I would be lieing if I said I wasn't scared walking from the physics building to my car after my Thursday night class gets out at 9:20. I typically end up having to park around Cramer and Locust and it seems judging by the emails the university sends out that people are mugged around that area pretty much weekly.

Wausau-area cops bust underage root beer keg party

                  By Brian Reisinger
                  Gannett Wisconsin Newspapers

ROTHSCHILD -- The Zebro home in Kronenwetter showed all the signs of an underage drinking party March 1: cars blocking the road, dozens of rowdy kids and a keg.

And yet, every partyer's breath test revealed an alcohol-free gathering.

Dustin Zebro, 18, and his friends said they threw the party after D.C. Everest High School administrators suspended their friends from sports.

"We didn't know it would work well enough to make the cops show up," Zebro said of the plan to poke fun at the administrators by throwing a root beer kegger.

However amusing, the event -- which partyers posted on the video Web site YouTube -- highlights serious differences in attitudes about underage drinking.

Zebro and his friends said they think underage drinking is between students and police, not schools.

                  Principal Tom Johansen disagrees.

"I think we have an obligation as an educational institution," he said, explaining that schools investigate cases of underage drinking carefully. Violations at school can lead to suspension or expulsion, while those at other venues can lead to expulsions from sports.

Debra Burgess, drug free communities coordinator for the Wausau School District, said the root beer party, and its motivations, downplay the consequences of underage drinking, which include harmful decisions and stalled brain development.

Zebro's mother, Ruthie, said she didn't know the motivation behind the gathering.

She also said a group on the social networking Web site Facebook that suggests she supports underage drinking is easily misunderstood. Although they had no proof, Everest Metro police have spoken to Ruthie Zebro about anonymous complaints they received about her hosting an underage drinking party.

"I don't promote it," she said.

But a drinking age of 21, she said, isn't fair with kids going to war at 18.

Burgess said there's little room for mixed messages.

"Parental approval or disapproval is often more powerful than we realize," she said.

We always had a decoy cooler, and the beer carefully protected.

On a much more serious note, an 11-year-old Wausau-area girl died of untreated diabetes because her parents prayed for her recovery rather than seek medical attention. First link is a general article about the story. Second link is about clergy reaction to the story.

A root beer keg party? What is this younger generation coming to?

Why, when I was a boy, we never...ah, well...never mind!

And I'd bet they celebrated with a few real cold ones after the boys in blue left.

Wausau man chokes on steak, dies at birthday dinner

                                Gannett Wisconsin Media

WAUSAU – A Wausau man celebrating his 84th birthday died Wednesday night after he choked on a piece of steak, according to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies were called at 7:05 p.m. to The Loading Zone, where Donald J. Builer was reported to be choking, Sheriff’s Lt. Randy Albert said.

Deputies and restaurant customers tried the Heimlich maneuver to dislodge the meat, but were unsuccessful, he said.

Builer was celebrating his birthday with family members, police said.
