I saw it. As I recall, Jeff Daniels also wrote and produced a play of this. I remember thinking the movie wasn't that hilarious, and wondered how they could make it work as a stage play.

pretty funny if your a hunter that is part of a deer camp, or a yooper. I believed it was filmed on Machinaw Island, they are pretty proud of the film up there.

Why would they film it on Mackinaw, if it was about the UP? Seems odd. Throw a rock and you hit a deer camp anywhere up there.

i'm not sure whether or not mackinaw is considered part of the UP? its north of the lower penn., but south of the Upper. the world may never know!

I have a tradition, every year before Deer Season opens, I go to local movie store and rent this bad boy of a movie and I laugh my ass off.

After spending most of my 'youth' in the UP, the humor just isn't there. but I can see where it would be being funny.
It's like being taught by nuns for 12 years, I don't laugh at those jokes either!
