If anybody is looking for a cheap computer, Staples is selling a Compaq for $350. Pretty basic, 1 GB, 15.4 screen, but that's a pretty good price.

I might look at it, but our governor sets the prices around here and he probably says that computer sells for $600 at the Ma and Pa Computer Outlet and Fuckyouintheass Emporium, so that's what we pay.

We had our friends and family night last night at Sears from 6-9, and we did Black Friday prices + 10% off. We had some pretty good items and it was a solid day. I made about 25$ an hour so I was pretty happy with that.

And yes, as Partial already mentioned, things are not looking to spectacular so far this year, at least not compared to years gone past. There is simply so much competition year round online, that it makes it much harder to find the real hot deals

Best Buy is especially underwhelming. What's with the 350 laptop when they had one for 250 last year? What's with the 650 AMD dual core lappy? I see these systems routinely online daily.

I was personally hoping for a 24" 1900*1200 display for 200. That would be a steal and justify a door buster. Last year they did that with the 22".

One thing that I will say is that naturally prices are going to be a little bit higher since BB did away with Mail-in rebates for all their doorbuster deals.

I don't think Blake is big on Black Friday although he got a laptop at Best Buy last year. He tagged along with a friend and bought it on impulse.
I think I might go to Staples this year per your recommendation. Or at least send a representative to do it for me since I have to work. Damn Sears. I guess Anna can earn some brownie points by camping out for me

You may want to check out Circuit City's website, first thing each day. They have these daily "pre Black Friday specials" which are actually pretty damn good.

They have a different item featured daily and they have limities quanities available. Yesterday they had a laptop for $279. Today a GPS for $99, which I wanted but I was too late already at 11am today.

We have several department stores out here in the Pacific Northwest like Kohl's and Penny's which are advertising they will open at 4:00 a.m. on Black Friday!
What times are stores opening up in other parts of the country?

I just got back from the Delaware shore and the outlet malls there will open at midnight Thursday night.

It will be interesting to see what the markets do after the consumption madness that is Black Friday. The retail world is very worried that Americans will shy away from using their credit cards this year because of the housing/credit crunch and worries with the coming recession (odds?)

                          Im after these things:

                          upconverting DVD player

                          surround system for the TV

a 20+ in widescreen monitor. One that can sub as a would be nice TV

                          maybe a laptop

I also always like to get a hard drive or some kind of storage. Also a good time to pick up blank DVDs or CDs.

My wife was telling me that there are a couple of stores around here that are opening up at midnight and 1 AM. Ridiculous!

If you see an internal hard drive cheap, please let me know. I keep running out of RAM. Maybe I need some RAM too, huh? If there's an absolute spectacular, drop dead deal on a normal sized hdtv, I might be tempted, but it has to be REALLY good.

And I have news for the black Friday retailers. Midnight? 5 am? I don't do those hours unless I'm up from the night before...and I don't shop when I'm up that late.
