Here's who I think will become the next great SNL cast member.

Scott, as I am much older now, I don't get to watch the show, who is this? (the few shows I've seen over the past year or so, makes me wonder how it's still on)

                        Fred Armisen

He provided the (late) rimshots for Chris Kattan’s burned out Vegas act “Buddy Mills” as the geriatric drummer “Mackey” in the recurring “All Night Vegas” sketches - the funniest thing I've seen him do yet. He's got the ability to make me laugh without saying a word, much like Belushi or any of the great cast members over the years. He just looks goofy.

I've found the show to be remarkably stable over the years. You always have to give yourself some time to warm up to new cast members, and sometimes you think the show is starting to lose it when they have a weak cast for a year or two. But somebody always steps up eventually.

How bout your favorite SNL skit? Here's mine:

Chris Farley (Barney) and Patrick Swayze trying out to become Chippendales.

                            Any Farley and Murphy character.

                            Belushi as the Samurai Baker.

"There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson

I was just watching a past episode where Janet Jackson was the guest.

Will Ferrall was in the skit as well where italians were talking about cork soaking.

SNL went through a couple year period of being really bad - that's probably what you saw.

If you haven't watched it the last season or so, have a look. It's a lot better.

Couple I remember that haven't been mentioned. The 'I hate when that happens' guys. Two masochists (Crystal and Guest, I think) who brag about the pain they've caused themselves.

There's also the PeeWee Herman years, in the late 80's.

BTW You quoted my favorite all time line with "Jane, you ignorant slut". This line was once followed up with "Jane, you poor, misguided scrag!"
