I'm a Packer Fan; I'll root for AROD. But it'd be fair to say we'll see a dropoff in our QB play and record next year and I remain concerned about his durability

QFTOriginally posted by NoodleHere's what I'm going to do -- I'm not going to compare every damn thing he does to Favre. Let him forge his own identity. And judge him by his peers in the league, not by the standards set by a friggin legend.

Not really. Young SHOWED he could play the game and lead the team. The jury is sequestered on Rodgers. You can argue the Dallas game proved it but you can also argue that it showed the opposite. Meaning we won't know till mid season or even longer where Rodgers is in his development. Without competition at the position, it will be closer to late season.Originally posted by Tony OdayThis is going to be like the transition between Montana and Young..."Once the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the Republic.”

The initial question on the post is silly, all Packer fans will root for Rodgers. The only reasons we would not would be if:
1) He starts acting like a cross between TO and Mossy Cade, or
2) He sucks so bad he makes Rich Campbell look like Brett.
Neither is terribly likely. If he plays to his strengths (accuracy, minimizing mistakes), and prepares well, he'll do fine.2025 Ratpickers champion.

How the hell is it siily? You honestly dont think there are people expecting and maybe even wanting Rodgers to suck? I just want to see who is on board now so if he does turn out to be good there is proof of who doubted him.Originally posted by MadScientistThe initial question on the post is silly, all Packer fans will root for Rodgers.

Even if you expect him to suck, there's still no reason to root against him. I suppose there could be some Favre fan who are not real Packers fans who want Rodgers to fail just to show how good Brett was. Around here I would only expect Rastak and Bearman to root for Rodgers to fail, but they don't count.Originally posted by MadtownPackerHow the hell is it siily? Rodgers didn't get injured during the Dallas game. He was injured days later in practice. Funny how people forget that.Originally posted by Fosco33I'll cheer/support ARod - but I have serious questions about his durability. If he makes it through or starts half the games, I'll be pleasantly surprised. And that's not Rodgers hating - it's his history over the last two games he's played in...
And we better stop screwing around in FA and get a semi reliable backup QB (or two) OR draft someone before the 4th/5th round. We did get a decent boost in available cap spending (i think).

The day Rodgers wins us a 2nd Super Bowl, he automatically vaults past Favre into 2nd place on my alltime Packer Quarterback list.
I'm not sure anyone will ever catch Starr.
It's hard for me to understand your distaste for Brett Favre; but it sure is consistentTERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER
