BELLAGIO DISPUTES WALKER’S CLAIMS

Raiders receiver Javon Walker claims that gunmen appeared at his room at Bellagio, knocked him unconscious, robbed him, and then dragged to him a car and dumped him in the street.

The folks at Bellagio disagree.

“The facts that have been reported regarding the incident involving Javon Walker are incorrect,” a spokesperson from MGM-Mirage, which owns Bellagio, told KVBC-TV in Las Vegas. “I am unable to provide further detail out of respect for the Metro investigation which is currently underway.”

KVBC also reports that Bellagio has more than 2,000 surveillance cameras that operate continuously inside and outside the hotel.

Meanwhile, a reader has shared with us some Vegas talk-radio rumor/speculation regarding the incident that makes sense. As the rumor/speculation goes, a couple of guys saw Walker spraying Dom Perignon on Saturday night, and then recruited a woman to cozy up to him and to get him to take her home, or wherever. Once outside, the robbers intervened, knocked Walker out, and took his watch and money.

Man...the equation is so, so simple: booze and/or drugs plus late night hours plus either strip clubs/dance clubs/casinos equals trouble.

Javon's not a twenty-three year old any more, either. The dude's twenty-nine. Not that that's old, but he ought to know better at this point.

The part that don't make sense is him ever being in a position for this to happen. In Vegas, at a major hotel (turns out this was at body english, tryst was the night before i guess) You never have to be exposed. We got Limos and Cabs by the millions parked right in front of every hotel (and valet if you drive). The casino and nightclub are filled with security and robberies beyond a snatch and run NEVER happen inside the casino.

Its just damn hard to be exposed unless you were blatently stupid.

Oh yea, and as far as looking for a hooker, use the yellow pages or the main bar at any major casino, you don't have to go out looking here (not that I would kow....honest.....I don't do that.....for real.....no, really......stop looking at me that way)

Right off the Strip to the East is shady. Not North Las Vegas shady, but shady. Koval Lane is right where Tupac was shot to death if I'm not mistaken. Purely coincidence obviously, but the South end of the strip closer to UNLV has become increasingly dangerous around the older apartment complexes. Again, not North Las Vegas dangerous, but no tourist should be out on those side streets. Actually, nobody should be on those streets. I don't know how Javon Walker got there, but it was extremely poor judgment.

Sort of like the same judgment Javon used by equating a soldier in battle and a guy with 1 good season and 7 million dollars deserving a pay raise.

Look, it's bad enough for some to live in Las Vegas because there is the underbelly of life there tourists do not see. Vegas is riddled with crime and drugs like many major cities.

Im glad I moved. I felt safer in Central Hollywood and parts of East L.A. then in Vegas.

Regardless of Vegas and it's violence, J-Walk in not a smart individual, he has the Wonderlich scores to prove this.

I've been here for 15 years, and I feel as safe as in Bonduel wisconsin. I don't go to rough areas, but I would think even our rough areas are safer than NY or LA's rough areas.

I don't want to speculate what Jwalk was doing down there, I simply know not many people walk around in that area.

Heh, summerlin...well, I actually live a tad south of summerlin, but the entire west side of vegas is safe, and 90% of the east side. Some spots near downtown, north las vegas, and some of the areas just east of the strip (like where JWalk was found) are seedy and not real great, but the rest of the city is solid.
