TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER
The problem I see with these kind of "would you be happy if X happened?" threads is that the answer all depends on the context of the season itself. So if someone said that yes, he/she would be happy just to get to the NFC Championship game, and then the team had a three touchdown lead in that game with only six minutes left, and the team lost, that person would very likely not be okay with that.
On the other hand, if a person said no, it's Super Bowl or Bust, and then the team suffered a boatload of injuries - if, say, A-Rod went down, Kampman went down, Driver and Jennings, Tauscher, Lee, Barnett - and the team somehow made it to the NFC Championship game, that person who said "Super Bowl or bust" might well be thrilled that the team got as far as it did.

darlin -- your stance is way more reasonable than most of ours but the way i look at it .... it's kinda like believing in jesus.
i dont wanna close myself off just in case there is a heaven (yes, i know... i wouldnt be going anyway so stfu mission!)
if i get excited about it now and it doesnt happen, then all i have to deal with is the heartache once the realization has set in.
so 50% of my time is spent being positive, the other 50% not...
your stance, i dunno... it could end up just being all-around shitty :P
This "darlin" is more than 50% positive. :P
I just don't think the transition is going to be quite as easy as many others believe....hope I'm wrong. And like I said above, if sexy rexy did it, our Aaron can do it too.
There is one HUGE difference between the situation Manning and Grossman were in and the one Rodgers is in and that is Rodgers has the best group of WR's in the NFL.
The reason first year QB's fail is that they are 99.9% of the time on bad teams. Rodgers has more talent around him than most and it all starts at WR.
Jennings will take another step forward and be one of the top 7 or 8 WR's. DD has'nt lost anything. Jones will make the same step forward in year 2 that Jennings did as far as being more consistent. Nelson will be chain mover in that 4 wide set on 3rd down.
I look for a HUGE increase in production at TE. Thompson has some talent there now. Lee will only get better and Humphrey and Finley will surprise.
We reached the NFC championship game last year. We should of made the Super Bowl. This year we've lost Favre, but our team has gotten stronger as a whole, the young players developing. Throw in a possible Pro-Bowl DE coming to down in Taylor and I see no reason why this shouldn't be a Super Bowl or bust season.
The duty of the GM is to make sure the team gets better or sustains their high level of play. TT has done that. We should be able to win the NFC, no doubt in my mind. Now, I'm not a kool-aid drinker. I called us to miss the playoffs last year. But I think this team is going to be a better team this year than it was last year. Does that mean we'll go 14-2 or better? No. But we are a better team and this is Super Bowl or bust.

That's like the 3rd time if been called on that error on this forum.

So true.
Think that if 'porn stach' Hostetler can win the big one with the NYG, then A-Rod can bring it home for the Pack. I'm basing this on solid, iron-clad wishful thinking.

I admit to being one of his biggest critics in this forum the first 2 years. I thought he was just awful and he was. He held the ball to high and had no concept of looking off his wideouts. He looked lost out there in the pre-season games that he played.
However, this last season, he looked totally different. He has brought the ball down and in the Dallas game, he actually looked the saftey off on that curl route that Jennings scored on.
He will be in-consistent at times and he's gonna make mistakes. It's only natural but if you base future opinions on past results, you also have to agree he has the ability to IMPROVE with playing time.
Hell, I'm so confident in my prediction of A-Rod's success, that come the middle of August, I'll be wearing my brand new Rodgers jersey!
I would hope the mentality of the team right now is to win the NFC North. You can't play in the SB if you don't make the tournament, and winning the division guarantees them a shot at it. That should be the #1 goal at this time, and it seems a difficult enough task with the Queens improvement. Especially with the loss of Favre, I don't think it's a good thing that this team is looking so far ahead.

Aaron's first year will be much different than Eli's first year. Aaron's going to be one of the most seasoned QBs in the last few years to make his first start. He's got a lot more knowledge and practice than a lot of these "thrown into the fire" QBs.
True.

I can't say I expect big things from Aaron. But then again you don't need a superstar at QB to get to the SB....we all witnessed that when Rex got there. Packers got a lot going for them this season.
I agree with you on your stance on Rodgers.
To be fair, Rex had more games than anyone that year with a QB rating over 100. He was playing at a very high level for a lot of games.

Yes, but he also had a game with a 0 rating as well Last game of the season as I recall. Some kind of rivalry game.......
