Had they said 2 weeks ago, show up to camp and earn the job we would be talking about TC and not bashing one of the greatest players any of us will ever see......thats pretty black and white to me!!
so if putting the "better player now" on the field is the best thing to do, we should have traded for pacman, TO, and chad johnson right? I mean, nothing else matters, they are hella talented. Of course other things do matter, like retiring, getting the whole organization going one way, then wanting the job back....you know...yanking chains.

If chad johnson wants to play, but not for the bengals, they should just release him.

This comment makes little sense in the context of what I wrote. Things prohibit trading for other teams stars like money, etc....don't fool yourself, TT and MM know Favre is the better player, that is why he won't be around. Coaches and GM's put the best players on the field, period. If they don't they won't be around long!

Al Harris and the Packer coaching staff are actually the ones that lost that game. The Packers wouldn't even have been there without Favre so just quit bringing it up dumbshit.

So now your BEST argument is that somehow over the offseason Brett unbecame a Packer people. Not by retireing but the "Packer people" that the team always looks for in players, good stand up citezens.

Slow down, chief. While Harris and the coaching staff sucked, the Giants stacked the box with 8 or 9 every play, forcing Favre to beat them. I was there - he missed receivers left and right, threw too late, and made poor decisions throughout the game.

Plenty of blame to go around, and Favre is not immune.

Maybe MM and TT know that Rodgers is the better player? Since their jobs depend on it and all?

Why do angry fans constantly think they know more than a good coach and a good GM?

That is fine, if they believe Rodgers is the better player, let him beat Brett out. Don't run the guy out of town. If Rodgers is just handed, Brett's job and he is Griese like. Both will be looking for work. If he takes Brett's job, they have a fighting chance. I don't like anything about this situation, but for people to say it is time to move on from a mvp calibur player to an unknown is ludicrous to me.

There can never be a fair competition. It wouldn't matter if Rodgers outplayed Favre, Favre loyalists would still complain about it and say he was cheated.

Maybe the Packers aren't worried if Rodgers can outplay Favre now. Maybe they are worried about who will be playing better in December and January. This isn't about who is better now. If the Packers believe Aaron Rodgers in Janaury with 16 games behind him gives the Packers a better chance in the playoffs then a 39 year old Favre who has slowed down at the end of every offseason, then that is there decision to make.

Steve Young or any of the varying degrees of failures? I'd say the talent surrounding them had a whole lot to do with it.

This AIN'T a question of HATING Favre for most of us. It is really believing that the team will be better off with Rodgers. That is Thompson's position; That is McCarthy's position; That is a lot of the players' position.

Why is it so hard for some in this forum to accept that?

Fair competition? That amounts to a team destroying QB controversy. Hell no, we don't need that.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

Some of these boys seem to have a nasty strain of gonorrhea of the blowhole so I would be pretty careful if I was you Basket.

I agreed with this philosophy that they should compete. But then I remembered someone saying how it's better for someone to be given the QB spot, so they can learn and such. They gave the spot to Steve Young; he didn't have to compete, and recently, they just released Leftwich to make way for Garrard without a competition.

Have faith that MM and TT know what they're doing. There must be a good reason that they don't want a competition. And no, it's not just to fuel their own egos or run Favre out of town for no good reason.
