No, but shouldn't Favre work with the Packers to get a trade done so that both sides get what they want?

Sure, but again, the Packers want Favre retired or playing for a team that doesn't compete directly with them. It seems obvious that Favre wants something the Packers aren't willing to budge on (or maybe they are starting to budge...stay tuned)

Let Favre rot on the bench - 3rd or 4th string; if he keeps his antics up then his legacy is destroyed. I'm mad at Favre - it'll blow I gather but not presently.

The team wants him to retire and stay retired. They don't want him on the team and they don't want him to compete for the starting slot. Favre wants to play and can certainly play at a high level. If you were in Favre's shoes, would you go quietly into that good night?
No, I'd go play for another team. Something that Favre could have easily worked out behind the scenes.

*Sigh* What if he doesn't want to go to the teams the Packers are OK with? Isn't that the whole point of the current impasse? If it were easy, then why didn't he do it?

It appears Favre's list contains one team, Minnesota. What can the Packers do about that? Tampa Bay would appear to be a perfect fit, but he's nixed that. He's being hard-headed. He's shown this in the past--when he's gotten defensive about the coaches wanting to go over his interceptions with him ("why don't they throw show me my touchdowns") or when the media says he takes too many chances ("yeah, but I've won a lot of games by taking chances"). Personally, if he doesn't want to work out a trade to a team other than Minnesota, I'd let him be a backup for a few weeks. Packers camp is going to be a circus regardless of whether he's there or not at this point.
"There's a lot of interest in the draft. It's great. But quite frankly, most of the people that are commenting on it don't know anything about what they are talking about."--Ted Thompson

A good question since he refuses to tell the Packers what teams he is OK with.

I find this amusing. Everyone on here would be fuming if you boss gave your job to some low paid replacement with no guarantee said replacement could do it better or as good.

He broke that statement with is absolutely irrational retirement.

Uhm... not if you retire first?

If you retire, comeback 4 months later and expect your old boss to demote the guy that's been working your job so that you can keep getting paid, you're more likely to be escorted out by security than get any sympathy.

Then I'd try to find a similar job with a competitor, but that's not an option for Brett, unless he wants to play for a team named the Rough Riders (I'm surprised that's not been brought up).

Also, there's been mention that GB's talked with the Jets and Bucs, but I've not read anywhere but here that Brett is responsible for nothing happening. I have read Peter King reporting that TT wants a 1st-rounder and a DE for Brett, which is mighty pricy.
I believe in God, family, Baylor University, and the Green Bay Packers.

Favre doesn't just want to play. If all Favre wanted to do was play he wouldn't have refused to play for Tampa. He wants to play, but is very particular about where he plays. That's the problem. He wants to play for a division rival, and that just isn't okay.

Brett said he wouldn't play for Tampa because it's "Too hot"... LAWLZ that's a good one Mississippi
