I really believe that. I think the whole organization is shafting itself both short and long term if Favre trots out against Minny that first game. MM will have lost all credibility, Rodgers will be gone as soon as he can get out, and TT will have lost the handle on the whole thing.

I hope they trade Favre to Minny. I don't care if all they get is a fourth. I think he's poison to this whole organization.
Thank God there's some sense in this F'in forum!!!!!! You should have seen the assholes at family night, booing when rodgers took the field. Brett can take them with him where ever he goes. Bandwagon fairweather fricken idiots, the whole lot of em. Why do you pay admission to a family event at lambeau field just to boo someone who is a victim of very unfortunate circumstance?
I watched online, which was top notch quality BTW, and could only hear the cheers when the offense came on the field. 60,000 fans - you're bound to have some idiots. What percentage would you say booed in your section...?
Our section was probably the worst, I'd say a good 40 percent if not more. One idiot in particular with a Patriots Moss jersey on, him and his family had about 15 teeth combined between the 6 of them.

Too bad I can't say the same about Favre. He as acted like a spoilt superstar diva since day 1.

I hope A-Rod wins the battle on the gridiron as convincingly as he has won it elsewhere.
        Can I buy your jersey?

The team was stuck between a rock and a hard place. They chose between bad options.

But I disagree that Favre will necessarily be on the roster come opening day, let alone be the starter.

I wonder how #4 will react to a healthy portion of boos when he takes the field.
The jocksniffers won't be able to drown them out.

Maybe Najeh Davenport could be hired to visit Favre's locker?

                  Why Fritz?

Rodgers knows our system and players. He is set up to succeed in Green Bay far more than he would be anywhere else at this point. He still has plenty of football ahead of him. Favre can't play forever...and IMO the chances are about 99% that Rodgers would be the unquestioned starter for the Packers in 2009.

Rodgers would be a dumbass to leave Green Bay because he feels a little slighted. He is being given a fair chance to prove himself as the starting QB. He has the advantage of working all offseason and having a leg up in camp to this point. If he can't beat Favre now, he doesn't deserve to start this season...and Rodgers knows it.
I have to agree with Leaper on this. I don't see why it is assumed Rodgers will leave automatically. Rodgers probably won't find any other situation so primed for him to succeed as in GB.

Here's a quote from Rodgers when asked about a possible extrension this year if Favre becomes the starter: “Not until I play,” Rodgers said. “There’s no point in extending my contract until I play.”

That's pretty strong evidence in my book. Patler, your argument - that Rodgers won't find a better situation - rests on the assumption that Favre won't be coming back next year. Can you - opr anyone, even including Favre himself - really say that in confidence???

                  That's why.

The Packers can. They can release Favre after the season, and let him do whatever the hell he wants to do.

I'm expecting that is exactly what they will do. After this fiasco, no one will blame them for doing it...which would not have been the case this offseason.

I think the Rodgers quote can be taken a lot of ways. Maybe he was just trying to say he doesn't deserve or expect the Packers to pay him off for what has happened.

At some point, 2009 or even 2010, the Packers will simply release Favre if he keeps coming back. It will be a wide open opportunity for Rodgers at that point. What might change his thinking is if in the mean time Brohm develops into legitimate competition for the job.

You've been Daven-pooped, Brett! Of course, let's hope it's not the one in Mississippi, that would be a little creepy with Favre being in Green Bay and all.

Yeah, that's gonna happen. A 39 year old that has missed a week of camp, getting $12M this year. They might trade for him but it aint going to be a #1 and a #2. I bet they would trade a 4th but may be pressured by Goodell to trade a #2.
