If he's the starting QB for the Packers, I'll be hoping he does well though. I hope I'm wrong that he might struggle.

Harv, I think youre feeling of him having a bad season is due to the situation we're in because I dont think if he retired you'd even have a bad thought about it and you'd probably be jacked up for the season... the man is full of talent and it'll show.. like usual

I'd be more comfortable with Favre if Favre had put in the offseason work required by MM. Remember now when Favre did NOT put in that offseason work in the past he has played undisciplined and struggled at times. Last year and during the Holmgren era, when Favre did in fact put in the offseason work, he was a much better QB. It's not a stretch to think that this year we'll get the Favre that struggles because he didn't put in the offseason work rather than the MVP Favre who has put in that work.

I was worried about him with his comments about how emotionally draining the season was for him (and his play suffered down the stretch).

More than anything, his lack of commitment this offseason has me worried. You don't do well in the NFL by not being 100% committed all offseason. That's just the way it works.

If he had said in March that he was coming back, I'd be mildly worried after seeing the way he looked in the NFC Championship Game and not knowing he couldn't enjoy the fruits of a 13-3 season. I'm really worried know that he half-assed it all offseason. That offseason work is important. Unfortunately, I think we'll see how important it is this season.

Gunakor.. understandable you'd have your doubts about his work.. but were you with him down there? It sure sounds to me that he was busting his ass to get ready for the season... I even read that he's thrown more in this offseason than he did in the past... remember that he does it on his own and gets ready that way.. if you mean not ready for the playbook.. well im sure he's ran every play we've got a million times

I'm not as concerned with the offseason stuff either.

It is possible that Favre might actually last longer this season because he didn't kill himself in workouts during the offseason. Sometimes, a break from overworking yourself is a good thing.

I'm not saying that WILL happen...just that I'm not going to sit here and guess that Favre can't keep himself in shape. The guy is a professional athlete...and has been for 17 years. He knows what to do.

You can't simulate OTAs and minicamps down in Mississippi. It's not just the physical part, but it's the installs, it's the timing with the new receivers, it's the leadership you can instill by being at the OTAs and minicamps.

                Yawn.

Like I said before...Peyton Manning is going to miss ALL OF TRAINING CAMP. I'm betting when he comes back, it won't take him long to get back in the swing of things. Wanna bet against that?

Sure, some things were missed...but it isn't some kind of huge deal that makes it impossible for a QB to contribute in the coming season. Far from it, actually.

We'll see. Proof is in the pudding. Manning did practice some, and he was at all of the OTAs and minicamps.

Yeah, I think that this is getting blown out of proportion. Brett will be fine. I can't imagine any in the league who has more coaching/playbook knowledge/practice reps than Brett. Even McMarthy has said Favre is like another coach out there. All we gotta worry about is Brett being in top shape and according to a 3pm CST ESPN live report his physical went fine.
