Just saw on ESPN that MM is supposed to meet with the media at 9:15 (Eastern) tonight. Hope it's televised. I'm very anxious to see what he says.

      Right now... Yes...

      Back in Favre's prime? No...

isn't it great that even that is debatable when Favre is 38 going on 39... he's so fuckin good... i love it

Its not debatable. Manning owns him on the class scale as well.

I am not sure why M3 is still wasting time with the silly posturing when he knows damn well that everybody in America has heard about last night's clunker by A-Rod. They've already lost the PR war, so why keep fighting it? I like Woody's comments after the scrimmage, having only been with the team for two years he's still about to keep an objective perspective about the whole thing.

Put things about last night into perspective. He was 8-20 with an INT, which isn't very good at all. Not all of his incompletions were on target, of that you can be sure. But at least 4 or 5 of his incompletions were drops by the WR's. I saw him it Ruve in the hands twice, one Ruve dropped and the other Pat Lee made a great play on to knock it out of Ruve's hands. I saw Driver uncharacteristically drop one too. I'm not saying even those passes were perfect, but a rule of football is if you are a WR and the ball hits you in the hands you HAVE to catch it. If the ball hits you in the hands and you don't catch it that is your fault, not teh QB's. So A-Rod could have easily been 12-20 or 13-20, which isn't spectacular but isn't horrible either. Assuming those drops would have happened even if it were #4 throwing the ball, what's the difference??
I think you need to compare A-Rod's performance this year to last years scrimmage. He didn't even match his own production last year. I am not comparing him to Favre. The drops could easily be a timing thing. They are accustomed to Brett but not to A-Rod yet. The main thing I am concerned about with A-Rod is durability and handling the pressure to perform. Last night was an aberration I hope, but if it was supposed to be his big debut it left much to be desired.

You are to Favre lovers what Tex is to conservatives. I hope Favre has a good year. I'm done talking about it.

Based on M3's post scrimmage interview it sounds like he ain't holding up too well either.

I think pretty much all of Mannings teammates hate him. They do thier job because they know he can win football games, but when it comes right down to it, I think they hate his guts. Favre always seemed to have the ability to make a player give everything he had and risk injury playing for/with him. I think that was why people liked him so much as well. I used to think that way of him. I dont anymore.

Maybe that's been Brett's hope all along???? Maybe this will be his way of bringing about what he's always wanted.....

How will flying to Minneapolis bring about him regaining his starter QB position for the Green Bay Packers??

I'm sure they hammer out some ground rules for what they say from here on out to the media. But even the Vikes say the same...

Childress: We have not discussed Favre with Pack

Updated: August 4, 2008, 4:26 PM EST MANKATO, Minn.

(AP) - Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress says his team has not had contact with the Green Bay Packers regarding a potential trade for quarterback Brett Favre.

Childress dismissed a report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that said the Packers have made preliminary contact with the Vikings about Favre. He was reinstated on Monday.

Green Bay has filed tampering charges against the Vikings for alleged inappropriate contact between the Vikings coaching staff and Favre this summer. Childress says he had no update on the outcome of that investigation.
