Do I smell an ultimatum? I wonder if perhaps McCarthy wants to try and make sure that all of this never comes close to happening again. I wonder if he wants to drill Brett tonight for exactly how long he intends to keep playing in this league.

I've wondered about this myself. Could the Packers be making Brett as miserable as possible even with the intention of letting him play this year, just so that he doesn't do it again. He's been playing the org. every offseason for the last few years, and maybe the Packers are just letting him know that it won't be business as usual for the Favre retirement melodrama from now on.

They could always rework the contract and give him a one year deal if he is not traded.

I think Brett is trying to find out if the Packers really want him here, or whether they plan to dump him through a trade or release on the eve of the regular season.

I think M3 is trying to figure out how committed Favre is, not just to playing, but to really being a part of this team. I think the fact that Favre was not here for the minicamps and OTA's really does not sit well with McCarthy.

They both have legitimate concerns, and are both trying to figure out if they can trust the other guy.
