This is a reply adding to a lame thread, I know, but why the F@CK is this thread alive? Or any other bipolar thread these days? PR's too black'n'white and I'm no saint either. It sucks to the point where I question my own involvement as a fan of the Green Bay Packers. Being born in Phoenix...my fan world would be peachy if I, hypothetically, became a Cards fan (don't bother with a rage reply to the latter though ).

So I say: 'Die, Favre, Die!' Just kiddin' of course (Ace Ventura I) but I am one individual that's more than disappointed in the Packers vs Favre debacle. It's a world wide laughing stock (amongst int./domestic NFL fans).

I'm hoping for a wake up call; I just don't have the answer for what medicine is needed.

I think the fact that Favre found it necessary to tell a reporter about his conversation with Romo proves yet again just how deeply he craves media attention. Of course we all knew that from the 5 year fiasco of his retirement decisions, which I criticized for several years while he was still a Packer.

I still enjoy watching him play. I would have enjoyed watching him play for another year as a Packer. His media persona, created as much by him as by the media, I have found to be very tiring for at least the last three years. I don't miss that being attached to the Packer season at all. The Packers are again seen as a team, and not as Favre and a bunch of other guys.
NOT; players in all sports transcend the game/team (jordan, kobe, magic, montana, manning) and its not favre's fault that he's been elevated to demi-god status. it always amazes me when i hear folk complain about celebs exposure or notoriety. some have that appeal and with favre ive never viewed it as concocted by favre or a burden like patler. some past and present players crave spotlight and are irritating (TO, Chad) whereas lord is still refreshing to me

folk should get over it; he's simply an icon. funny thing to me is u would think he's earned the praise/spotlight/exposure considering ALL he's done for the pack and nfl in general.

i didnt mind jordan getn so much exposure and i didnt care if my peeps in the hood thought larry joe bird was a media made great white hope (he was gettn it done PERIOD and its ENTERTAINMENT)

incredible that people treat him like he's benedict arnold or pat riley faxing his resignation to my beloved knickerbockers

father, son, holy spirit, apostle paul, favre....

OMG, as i pressed submit for this post and turned the channel lord favre's wrangler commercial was on. yippee...btw, havent u favre bashers ever heard that he has turned down PLENTY marketing gigs (unlike manning)? yet he's starvn for attn??? incredible....

Very nicely said Mobb,I hear you when you say that Favre hasn't asked for all the attention, his biggest problem is being brutally honest and rambling when asked questions.

Also to not like a player when he gets the spotlight is like hating your favorite band when they hit it big. If thats the case better get ready to start hating on Jennings-that media whore has done like 4 interveiws in the last week!

So gex, in your imagination the conversation went:

Reporter: "Well Brett, thank you for the time. Have you talked to any other NFL starting QBs lately?"

Favre: "Funny you should mention that Bob, I was just exchanging text messages with Romo and ..."

? Really? It wasn't Brett bringing it up, but it was a reporter who just happened to ask the magic question? Funny, how life works sometimes.

And for MOOB, turning down commercials is turning down money. This may be admirable in its own right, but it isn't the same as refusing to court media attention. Manning gets grief from all the selling he is doing. That kind of attention doesn't help, but it does pay. Brett gets in the papers not just for his play in the game, but also for his ability to be in the middle of a good story.

For just a second, think of all the times a Favre story has appeared and you have said to yourself "boy the media really loves to stir things up". Then remember, in the clear majority of the cases (in my estimation) it has been Favre who initiated the discussion of a topic that wasn't being discussed currently.

Most call this his honesty. I see it as something far smarter and calculated.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

What delusional world do you live in. You honestly think Favre starts these conversations, as tex says its the got-damned media stir the pot

Favre meant to call Rodgers this week, but his phone call with the Colts ran longer than expected.

So how do you think it would have went over if he had called ARod and told him to quit being a wuss and suck it up (pretty much what he told Romo)?? I think you would be crying about how he needed to mind his own business.

As for them not saying hi at the ESPYs, maybe they did, maybe they didnt but if not that means Rodgers also made no attempt either. Based on what was going on at the time I can understand. Saying Favre has beef with Rodgers cause they dont talk is lame.
                  1. No, I never complained about all the Favre threads. Don't make shit up.

Look through here and try to find any evidence of that.

                  2. I've tried to be impartial about this situation. The afore-linked posting history can attest to that.

                  3. Saying they have beef and wondering if they could have beef are two different things.

                  4. Weren't you the one who wrote an article disappointed that Rodgers didn't say hi to you? So why can't I find this disappointing?
MTP, were you going to retract your false accusations, or what?

I heard last night that it was ROMO who called Favre, not the other way around.

Our conversations here are roughly equivalent to chat rooms for teenage girls.

Not that I would have any direct knowledge of that scene.

Dammit, you mean everybody has been lighting him up in this thread for nothing

                          Ah, minor detail anyways.

                          That's just semantics

What? That is a link to a search that found nothing but I aint retracting nada I said. If you say you didnt than I believe you but I was thinking you had. I have been gone this weekend or I would have responded sooner.

I didnt complain about him not saying hi to me, I was referring to the fact he didnt acknowledge or say hi to anyone when people where cheering him even after the shitty preseason game. He wanted to cry nationally on JSO about a 6 year old cussing at him but I saw several lil guys cheering that did not get his attention. That is why I meant.
