I'm a little surprised at the clamor for Hodge. My understanding was that he wasn't a strong ST player, so even if you could bring the guy back, he'd be nothing more than a back up middle linebacker - Bishop beat him out both on ST and at the middle linebacker spot, I believe.

I wish Lasagna were ready, and maybe he is in terms of strictly being a backup, but I think we all know how promising rookies usually take time to develop into players.

I don't really even know who's out there any more, either. Odell Thurman, Bretsky? Our old pal?

I thought of Hodge for just that purpose - a backup role. To me he would have made sense because of his familiarity with the defense, the team, the coaches. But it doesn't matter since he is not available.

But then the packers would have have a parole officer on the premisis.

            Article on Chillar.

Chillar, thanks to his time in Jim Haslett's scheme with the Rams, is the one Packers linebacker who knows how to blitz. And it showed against Chicago, as he "got home" on most of his five blitzes.

"That's all we did in St. Louis was blitz. I was blitzing almost every other play down there," Chillar said. "Anytime you do something that much, you're going to get good at it."
Interesting quote. Makes you wonder how much more Barnett, Hawk, and Brady would be at it--if they blitzed more.

Yeah, and then we could have a defense like the Rams when Chillar was there.

Get off the blitzing crap already.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

Listen old man. I've never advocated a bunch of blitzing. I think we get too vanilla at times, but I think the defense worked last year and the pass defense is good this year. I just wonder if Hawk, Barnett, and Poppinga don't do that well blitzing because they don't do it much.
