  • 201 - Domani Jackson - CB - Alabama

    Overview

Jackson is a smooth athlete with good size and elite track speed. In totality, the play and production have failed to match the traits dating back to his days at USC (2022-2023), but his 2024 tape gives evaluators the best look at his ceiling. He can disrupt from press but can be a step slow to transition in-phase from man. Tampa 2 and deep-zone coverages suit him best. Scheme won’t matter as much as consistency and confidence for Jackson, though.

    Strengths

NFL size with shredded frame and real top-end speed.
    • Quality click-and-close from the top of his drop.
    • Faces up and searches for the ball in man coverage downfield.
    • Explosiveness to hammer pass-catchers and jar the ball free.
    • Has shown a willingness to play through pain.
    Weaknesses
    • Inconsistency was a problem throughout college career.
    • Lacked control and balance in press cut-offs.
    • Hitch shows up in lateral transitions from press.
    • Inconsistent to identify and trigger from side shuffle.
    • Too many finesse attempts as a run-support tackler.

It would be nice if he developed into a useful CB, but those numbers and that report sounds like a core ST player. He should make a good gunner.

“Too many finesse attempts as a run-support tackler.”

This should have been the dealbreaker.

          He will fit right in.
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

What is a "finesse attempt"? Does he stick a pinky out at the runner's ankle? Does he hold the guy and gently twist him down?

He's a sixth round corner. If he can play well on ST and be a backup who can come in and not instantly give up home run balls, then he's an okay pick.

"Smooth athlete with good size and elite track speed" - anything else should be a matter of coaching. The kid was a five star recruit out of high school. If pro position coaches can't mold that into starter quality, maybe star quality, then maybe you need different position coaches.
What could be more GOOD and NORMAL and AMERICAN than Packer Football?

And different college coaches who held him back far enough he fell into the sixth round, despite, as you term it, having everything you need.

His nickname could be "Anno Domani", or "AD" for short.

Highly touted prospect, good size-speed. Rumor was the rib injury kept him out of games but when Bama got to single elimination time he was getting the lion's share of snaps. Worst case you have a special teams guy. It's the sixth round and he's a cheap lottery ticket, it's fine.

They'll need bodies in the room next season. (It's noteworthy Gute has said he'd like to sign Watson and Kraft, but said nothing about Keisean or Valentine) This is part of rebuilding the CB position with a low risk high reward play.

Good to read that. Letting Keisean go would be addition by subtraction.

Jackson is a project. He has tools, but his inconsistencies as a college player are why he was available in the 6th round despite elite athleticism. Nixon will be with us 1 more year.

Interesting article about Jackson's down and up season from the perspective of HHCD who is Alabama's director of player development.
GREEN BAY – Heading into the 2025 season, Alabama cornerback Domani Jackson was considered a potential first-round pick. By midseason, he had lost his starting
