I don’t understand this post draft feeling of ‘Me Likey’.

Im not a draft-nik, but looking at the picks it seems like Gutey got good players and at positions of need.

Listening to Herman, Bukowsky and Nagler, they all seem happy with it as well.

Considering they didn't have a 1st round pick, and considering this was regarded as a mediocre draft, I think it is about as good as could have been hoped for. First 4 picks look like guys who could make Packers more physical at their respective positions.

With the first pick being #52, this was never going to be a spectacular draft. The Packers had enough holes that they couldn't go too much into BPA, but they could choose the best player that filled one of their needs. They did a decent job of that.

So, it seems like a solid draft without big reaches, but time will tell.

Position-wise, I generally like the way things went. We got two Corners, which to me was far and away the top priority - Domani Jackson especially sounds like a bargain to me. We got a supposed bargain of an Edge Rusher - for better or worse, he sounds like a younger cheaper Rashan Gary. The Center we got is at least big - I'm hoping for Josh Meyers quality, who I always liked a lot more than other people. I'm not thrilled about trading up for a D Lineman who was ranked way lower, but I have enough confidence in Gutekunst (unlike seemingly many in here) to be ok with the pick. I get the impression Burton, McClellan, and the Edge Rusher sorta have mean streaks - which might be good. And I really wanted a good Kicker, either drafted or otherwise. The guy seems to have the potential for greatness. His description makes him seem way better than Carlson when we got him.

At least we didn't draft any of the positions I was hoping we wouldn't.

True what was said about UDFAs having about as much chance to be good as 7th rounders.

I am in the camp of more bites at the apple gives you a better chance at finding a good player. I like trading down and grabbing more picks.

That said, the 6 picks that we took fill needs on this team. I would have liked to have gotten an RB and ILB in addition to what we got.

Two CBs was the minimum to draft this year with the glaring weakness.

ok. I'm back down to earth. I really really love our first Pick. I also like the DT pick which was a huge need. Love the center/OG pick as well, would have liked another Olineman.. The rest are solid imo. CB coach really liked the 6th round pick; we'll see if he can turn it around. Kicker based on our final games last year was the biggest and most needed improvement.

All around, I have no complaints really. That's the difference here in this draft from others. Solid prospects who will contribute, not reaches or gambles. In fact, I'd say of all picks DDS has the best chance not to pan out; he just needs to get a bit stronger and better in his technique. Cissee is gonna ball -- I am by far most confident in him.

None of us of course will know for two to three years, but from the reading I've done, this appears to be a good draft. Gutey got some of his RAS guys, got some guys that seem more football players, addressed needs (how well we can't really say yet), and picked up a kicker in the seventh round, on which I agree with those who argued that it's a better option than two seventh rounders who might or might not make the team and might or might not contribute, even on ST. I'm glad McAnus has competition.

Seems like the best we could expect. No running backs drafted, but that can wait until next year. I think a running back can hit the ground running, for the most part, if he knows how to block and catch. I like that they picked up a center/guard - though I do wonder who the backup LT is going to be. A couple guys who struggle with pad level, so it's still a true Packer draft.

I'm cool with it all.

This was a needs draft and it feels like it. Looks good on paper now. But without a lot of picks or a lot of upside (possible exception to the later picks at Edge and DB) it likely works out like a lot of other needs drafts. Fills in spots for four years but few difference makers. And the normal number of logical needs picks will simply fail to develop into reliable starters.

The trouble Gute has this year is that Parson accelerated big cap hits by a year; if no trade and instead signed Gary or Quay Walker to a big deal, you have bought yourself another year of maneuvering and more early picks.

But he didn't have any big difference makers on defense and needed one. The last ones he had flaked out after injuries (Jaire) and bottomed out after a knee injury (Gary).

Agree. I wasn't happy enough with either of the first 2 NEED picks. I think trading down would have been a benefit to be honest. Cisse plays the run well and is fast so he has a shot, but I'm not convinced he will ever be more than Valentine in coverage. The fat guy in round 3 is a solid well rounded player I liked better than big citrus. I don't think he will ever be great, but can he stuff the run and collapse the pocket. Thats all he will be asked to do, and that is enough.

This team is in a win now mode and is traditionally hesitant to start their rookies. I think they patched holes on the roster with productive talent who can potentially contribute this season.

They needed a corner, they got two, who, if one trusts the podcast sphere are both excellent athletes.

They needed depth on the interior D-line, Edge and O-line, and filled all of those needs.

Their decision to trade up for CMC looks smart, especially if they rated him that much higher than the other DT's left on the board, when there was a run on DT immediately after their pick.

I have no issue with them trading the two sevenths for the best kicker available. We need a legit answer at kicker, how many games did McManus lose for us last year. Those picks would've been used for Smack, if he was still available and probably one of the UDFA's.

They have 11 picks next season on a draft that is reportedly MUCH deeper.

As always, give it three years for a true grade, but I like what I see.
