I debated calling DDS a lock. Should have. Kinda forgot how good the Packers usually are in the 4th round. In 2006 Cory Rodgers was a 4th round pick who did not make the team. He was arrested in May 2006 for illegally discharging a firearm outside a bar. He then had a big problem in training camp catching punts. Punt returns were supposed to be his specialty. In 2014 Packers drafted Carl Bradford in the 4th round. He did not play in the NFL until 2016, although he may have made the roster in 2014.

For all the handwringing about how to fill in for Parsons, and even for the production of Gary and Enagbare, there is some good competition at this position. Sorrell surely will be given a chance, and if Oliver can stay healthy, he offers an intirguing pass-rush skill set. Just don't ask him to set an edge. And I've always thought Brenton Cox was better than a couple of players ahead of him on the depth chart. I'd like to see them give him a real opportunity. And for all the worry about replacing the production of Gary and Enagbare, really, for the number of snaps they played, it wasn't all that much. Give Sorrell or Cox that same number of snaps, and I have no doubt they can replicate the "production" of Gary and Enagbare. And probably outdo it. It wasn't that great.

The Green Bay Packers are adding to the wide receiver room after two days of training camp. Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Packers are signing Kaden Prather -- a 2025 draft pick of the Buffalo Bills who played in the UFL during the 2026 season -- to a one-year deal after a tryout on Thursday.

The Packers have 10 wide receivers on the current roster, although Brenden Rice was placed on the non-football injury list with a hamstring injury after Wednesday's practice. It's possible Prather (6-3, 209) could be a replacement for Rice as the 10th receiver. A corresponding roster move will be required.

Prather was the 240th overall pick in the 2025 draft. He was released from injured reserve by the Bills at final cuts last August and then played most recently with the UFL champion Louisville Kings, catching nine passes for 148 yards over nine games. Prather dealt with a hamstring injury during his only training camp in Buffalo.

Packers have released K Lenny Krieg and signed LS Cal Adomitis. Was Bengals LS from 2022-2024 and played 9 games with Eagles in 2025.

Wonder if they re-sign the kicker after making moves today. They have one other release to make to clear room for the WR and long snapper they signed.

Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Yeah there's no way they're going through training camp with just 1 kicker. I find it interesting that the guy they brought in to fill in for Orzech has extensive NFL experience. More than a fill in?

They just signed Orzech to a multi-year deal I think. Likely just insurance. Also, why let someone else work him out?

He wasn't enormously successful at his first stint. Saw a comment the the Eagles kicker was on a 6-6 streak with the regular snapper but went 0-6 as soon as the new guy came in.

I think competency might be important rather than development there since you don't want to Bork your own kicker.

They did sign Orzech to an extension, but there's little guaranteed money involved. I've always felt Orzech is lucky Whelan is such a good holder.

PFF grades for long snappers (min 100 snaps) since 2022:
                  Cal Adomitis: 77.8 (15/43)
                  Matt Orzech: 32 (40/43)
Still, there has to be reason Adomitis didn't have a job until yesterday. We'll see.

Could be. It seemed like Adomitis had a small window to work with in Philly after an injury, then hasn't been a starter since.
