The contract was market level for a FA starter. Not the best match but that was the price last year. It would have been better to have the guy on hand but between injuries and draft misses, he wasn't.

He only needs to be healthy and good enough to remind me of Bill Turner at Right Tackle (not Billy Turner at Guard).

Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Unless he suddenly starts blocking like granite and being the enforcer he was supposed to be and starting every game.
We could have gotten out of Banks contract with no issues after last year like Hobbs. But they turned the contract into almost all signing bonus during the offseason so it would cost $24 million against the cap to cut him now.
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

That might look like a bargain by week 4

What does that say about Gute and the coaching staff?
I don't think the outcome would have been much different. Maybe they don't lose 5 straight, but I don't think they beat some other teams earlier in the season with Kenny that they did with Micah.
The Micah trade happened in late summer, by that time all the DT's worth signing were signed, and a lot of DT's were overdrafted in 2025 as well. I agree the trade left them with a hole in their DL depth, but I think they make that trade 10/10. Only thing they could really do is hope your young vets (Wyatt, Wooden, Brooks) could hold up and the youngsters (Brinson, Stackhouse) would grow up fast. That's a risky gamble, and Wyatt's injuries put them in a tough spot.

I'm ok with the Rhyan deal. It's a big more than I'd like for him, but I think he'll only get better at the position with it being "his spot" and not bouncing around the line or in/out of the lineup. They need a starting C, and the draft and the FA markets were not great. He'll be ok as a player and they can get out of the contract next year without too much pain.
The Hobbs contract was a yuck from day one - he's a "good player when healthy" type that is not healthy often enough. He's not good outside, and Bullard's emergence in the slot made Hobbs an expensive/hurt backup.
Banks contract was also an overpay, although I do think in 2 years the average salary for a FA guard will make it look reasonable. Still, he's another player who has battled injuries - rest management for a 6th year OL is not a good sign - and I think the contract was more a reflection of what they thought he could become than what he is/has become.
Doubling down on it with the restructure this offseason was madness. Throwing good money after bad as the saying goes. He's on the team this year and probably next as well unless they designate him a June 1 cut, and even then he'll create a sizable dead cap hit. I hope Banks can get healthy and play good starting football for GB.

I don't know if Belton's lack of development is on the coaching staff, or if it was a bad pick by Guter. A second round guy - that's a high pick for a guy to be flailing in his second training camp. But he's not a poot quite yet - he gets until at least after his third year preseason next year.

The problem is that Rhyan doesn't have a spot. He simply isn't that good at anything. Occasionally he pancakes a guy in the run game and I get excited, but then he reminds me that its an anomaly 2 plays later.

He appears to have taken the off season off. He needed to slim down and add muscle. He is so talented, but alas unfulfilled potential is a catch phrase at this point. Belton didn't do the things he needed to when given an offseason with nearly unlimited resources and no class schedule. His natural movement skills are on display. He is athletic. He just doesn't seem to be dedicated. Did he work with a trainer in the offseason to improve his body or techniques?? It doesn't look like it to me.

There have been reports that he's lost a significant amount of weight. It seems to be all about technique with him. He has good foot quickness, but sometimes his footwork and hand usage is bad. Have the Packers given up on him at Guard? If so, that might help him, although I think it defeats what they had in mind when they drafted him. Packers used to excel at drafting college OT's and moving them inside (Wahle, Colledge, Tretter, Lang, Sitton, Runyan). Seems they're having less success at that these days.

Where's Larry Beightol when you need him? Doesn't say much for Stenavich, how the offensive line has played the past two or three years. I know he's the OC now, but still. And it sure doesn't say much for Luke Butkus. And since he's been coaching the o-line since 2022, it doesn't say much for The Flower.

The Flower may be the quarterback whisperer, but he's the offensive line shouter. And it's not working.
