    The OFFENSIVE Offensive Line

    Hope: Sign Kevin Zeitler. Josh Jacobs (or possibly Kaleb Johnson) returns eventually and takes some pressure off the pass game.

    Prayer: Banks could return. Burton could be given a start. The young players will develop at their positions (saw Morgan flat get beat wide which was embarrassing).

    Portents: Everyone can miss in FA, its why Ted largely avoided it; expensive mistakes. But man they needed to hit on Banks and it has not really paid off yet.

    Dangers: Stay the course. Something isn't working to improve this line's performance. I'm not sure you can continue to hope the same approach works. Hopefully the new coach can help identify a couple of the issues. They need urgency not panic (I am become death itself, a destroyer of worlds, a columnist on deadline).

    Largely I think the young players need time. Burton might need to play center though I haven't combed through tape to see if Rhyan struggled. I would say someone needs to get the line calls correct but if you leave a free edge rusher in a protection call, you can't also have a free rusher from the other side.

    They need to get something to tick upwards soon. Vikings were the worst kind of option to face early. But its out in the open now.

    I really don't understand this. The Vikings just kept blitzing. All they needed to do was dummy down the line protection calls to one direction and let Love know the edge rusher is coming free. Let Love hit the quick route.

    I know we want to pick up the blitz and hit the home run. But damn, do the simple stuff and take the 4-8 yards when nothing else is working.
    But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

      One of the tidbits of the off season was that under pressure Love's efficiency sinks. And the most notable part of it is that his depth of target goes up as he looks to punish it. They have to refocus.

      But it wasn't just the blitzing. The line was letting people they had covered get through.

        Yeah, but I think it is a panic mentality. They are so worried about the blitz and their assignments, that even when the opponent doesn't blitz, they are so worried about who to pickup they miss the assignment.

        Dumb it down so no one is worried about what to do. Let the guys play instead of paralysis by over analysis.

          It reminds me of McCarthy back in the day when our T was getting whipped and he would say something like, you got to win your one-on-one battles.

          Then miraculously in the 3rd Q, we would keep a TE in to chip and help the T out and our offense would start running again.

            The Packers were in good shape Sunday without any of that - until the God damned refs took it upon themselves to bail out a pathetic Vikings team. From the ridiculous roughing call on Murray to the plethora of no-calls of roughing Love to the trifecta of game-changing giveaways - ALL three of them clearly bad calls, CHARITY to a rotten team from a rotten city.

            Sure our O Line was pretty pathetic too. Sure LaFleur's play calling and game management in general were questionable, but we were winning and we obviously would have won if not for the God damned refs deciding that the game should go to the stinking loser home team.

              Gutes needs to be shot for this shoddy OL. Asshat Johnson went out and immediately acquired 3 good OL and now the bears are better than us. Yes, I said it. It seems most of our OL regress with Steyanovich leading the charge. And seriously....Jennings? Thats the guy you choose to start after Gutes doubled down on stupid with Banks. Fire them all. I have lost confidence in them. Too many failures at every level and we just paid them all.
