  • Packer's Top Female Executive Resigns

GP Press Gazette has reported that Vicki Vannieuwenhoven, VP of Finance resigned. She has been with the Packers since 1995, and was promoted to VP a year ago or so. During the hunt for a new President, she was identified as a rising star in the organization.

I have seen no reason or explanation for her resignation.

I believe she reported to Murphy.

Sounds like he's getting his own people in place.

14 years on the gig, maybe time to move on.

She was one of Murphy's "inner circle" in his reorganization last year. Perhaps she received an offer too good to pass up. There was really no place further for her to go right now with the Packers. The Packers may have wanted her to stay, but might not have had enough to offer her to compete.

            VP of Finance.....

Perhaps the balance sheet of the Packers investments was a lot worse than expected given the financial climate.

That 150M rainy day fund/slush fund most likely isn't just sitting in some bank account somewhere.

If it was invested in the derivatives market or mortgage backed bonds, it could have lost a significant amount of money. It isn't easy to tell the boss that you lost 10's of millions of dollars.

I think that is probably reading more into the situation than exists.
What was her future with the Packers? About the only place for her to go would be into Murphy's spot. How likely was that? Not very, in my opinion; and even if it was, it would be a long way down the road. I think this was more likely a career decision on her part, be satisfied where she is at or strive for something more.

The stock market went down and the Packer investments of the franchise preservation fund with it.

She is another one who can thank Obama for losing her job.

Why do so many seem to assume that she was forced out, rather than simply resigning to pursue a better opportunity?

Better not be. Obama is a Bears fan.

Hey CC maybe you should get your facts straight. Obama wasn't President when the economy crashed. You might know that if you watched the news instead of getting you facts out of a Cracker Jacks box. Talk about denial, now you guys are already trying to rewrite history. Usually people wait more than a couple of months to try that! But considering the source . . .

He didn't say anything about the economy. He talked about the stock market crashing.

Security around Obama wasn't as tight as elsewhere when he was on his visit up this way. I swear I was close enough for him to hear me yell "THE BEARS SUCK".
