He didn't say anything about the economy. He talked about the stock market crashing.
The market crash is a result of things that happened before February of 2009. The market also began it's decline before February 2009. Obama wasn't personally responsible for either occurance.

Way to ruin a good thread, guys.

I suspect that Patler is right in his assessment. Do you know how old she is Patler? I can definitely see an ambitious person moving on if there isn't anywhere to go up.

Per her bio, she graduated from college in 1988. That would make her 43 or so. Clearly a time in her career to assess her goals and current situation.

How did we ruin the thread? Her position directly relates to the economy and the stock market if she was in charge of the preservation fund and how those monies are allocated. A point was made that this may have had something to do with her resignation, and it might. How is presenting a logical explaination and debating that explaination ruining the thread?

Debate the merits of the issue, ie. how the stock market collasping could affect the Packers.

This thread should be devoid of any and all politics in my opinion.

Even I know what FYI is for, gentlemen; take it outside.

Under Bob Harlan our franchise seemed quite peaceful and it lacked front office drama--and I hate front office drama. There may have been times when people left for other places but they left quietly and often with best wishes and no back-channel sniping to a media ear.

I certainly hope that this departure signifies nothing other than Vicki felt it was time to move on, and on she will go with the boss' blessing. More drama than that is bad for business.
[QUOTE=George Cumby] ...every draft (Ted) would pick a solid, dependable, smart, athletically limited linebacker...the guy who isn't doing drugs, going to strip bars, knocking around his girlfriend or making any plays of game changing significance.

Better not be. Obama is a Bears fan.

Maybe she can be our next President

I have seen no reason or explanation for her resignation.
That is wierd as I'm looking at:

                    And it doesn't mention it.

One thing that did cross my mind...she was promoted from a finance area to one that is also in "charge of the marketing, ticketing and premium sales/guest services divisions."

Maybe this role didn't suit her?

IN the article she talks about family...maybe her role was too demanding..couldn't be there for her kids, etc.

There is something wrong with the dateline on that article. It seems to be listing the current date, not the date of the article. Right now it reads April 16, 2009, and the article states:
Vicki Vannieuwenhoven made history in April when the Green Bay Packers appointed her vice president of finance—
She was named VP of Finance April 3, 2007.

This is probably old news but I didn't see it posted anywhere...

The Journal/Sentinel is reporting that the Green Bay Press Gazette is reporting that "Vicki Vannieuwenhoven, the first female vice president (finance) in team history, resigned to spend more time with her three children while her husband is deployed to Afghanistan".

My argument was that this move might have been political in nature. It's hard to keep my argument devoid of all politics if the point of my argument is that the reason for the move could have had something to do with politics.

If having a political arugment about something Packer related is an issue for you, which forum would you like it to end up in? Whichever is decided I'll happily go along with. I'm not trying to cause trouble.

As it turns out this probably had nothing to do with politics, so I'll leave that out of this thread from here on out. But the question still stands, if there is a topic that is both Packer related AND political in nature, where should it go?

Academic political comments for things directly related to the Packers would be OK, but the problem is that they devolve quickly into mindless rants. This quote:

She is another one who can thank Obama for losing her job.
Sent this thread down the wrong path. Can we avoid this sort of thing here? If not, off to FYI with it.

Obama's war on properity and his hatred of capitalism is affecting everyone in this country, especially those having to pay ever increasing taxes.

I'm sure it has been very difficult to make the Packers money in this market which has lost so wealth since the election.

The Packers have postponed construction projects. That means fewer jobs and money flowing into the local economy.

Obama just keeps telling people it will get worse. Because he keeps saying doom and gloom everyone stops pending and things do become worse.

The Packers and Green Bay are negatively impacted by Obama and his socialist henchmen to great degree.
