Jason Smith:
Overall Football Traits
Production 2 2004: Baylor red-shirts Smith. 2005: Appeared in all 10 games (eight starts) at tight end, recording six catches for 70 yards and a touchdown. 2006-07: Moves to left tackle and starts 19 games in two seasons. 2008: Starts all 12 games at left tackle and was the first Baylor player in more than two decades to earn All-American honors.
Height-Weight-Speed 2 Possesses adequate-to-good height and bulk for an OT. Still has room on his frame to get bigger. He also shows above average top-end speed for position.
Durability 3 Missed five games with an MCL injury in 2007 but returned to start every game in 2008.
Character 2 Excellent work ethic. Team player. No off-the-field issues to our knowledge.
Offensive Tackle specific Traits
Strength/Toughness 2 A tough, aggressive finisher. Gives excellent effort and will play to the echo of the whistle. Displays powerful punch and a strong upper body. Adequate lower-body strength but has room to improve in this department.
Agility 2 Displays excellent initial quickness. Rare mobility for the position as a space blocker (see his range in fist quarter vs. Oklahoma in 2008, when he gets out to the left sideline on a 2nd-and-5 screen pass). Covers lots of ground when working as a second-level run blocker, as well. Only minor concern here is that he shows a tiny bit of stiffness when moving laterally, but he's still above average in that area.
Awareness 2 Continues to improve with more experience at the OT position. He recognizes and reacts to pressure quickly. Shows ability to recover when caught out of position.
Pass Protection 1 Excellent feet to set the edge. Gets set in a hurry and with balance. Can mirror and slide with most edge rushers. Uses long arms and strong punch to keep rushers at bay. Gets caught on his heels at times and will struggle to hold ground versus powerful bull rusher on those occasions.
Run Blocking 3 Is feisty and tough. Has the feet to establish positioning more often than most. Uses long arms and strength to cut off defenders. Works hard to sustain. However, his technique needs work, as he comes from a spread offensive system in college where he primarily used a two-point stance. He stands up too much and struggles to root defenders off the ball when they are able to get under his pads.

no surprise here
IMO the Packers are going to end up with A Smith, M Crabtree, or BJ Raji
likely one of those three fall
I too would be elated with MonroeTERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

I have a hunch KC trades this pick. If they're willing to take such poor value in exchange for the pick from the Lions, they clearly aren't interested in picking here.
I have a hunch they trade with NY.
Otherwise, I think they'll go OT to please the fans after trading for Cassell.
