  • Sharper Opens His Yap.... Again

I know its another Favre Thread. But this is interesting:

Sharper followed a similar, if less noticed, path

    May 6, 2009 5:31 PM

    Posted by ESPN.com's Kevin Seifert

I'm working on compiling a representative sample of the 600 or so Green Bay fans who have responded to Wednesday morning's request. But first, let's hear from a guy who would know what it's like to switch teams within this division.

Safety Darren Sharper spent eight seasons in a Packers uniform before signing with the Vikings in 2005. Sharper left Minnesota this spring to sign with New Orleans, and on Wednesday he made the media rounds as the Brett Favre story gained steam.

Sharper told ESPN's Rachel Nichols that he is "100 percent sure" Favre will come out of retirement to play for the Vikings. Ultimately, Sharper said, the urge to avenge his departure from Green Bay will prove too attractive.

"This is a perfect opportunity for him not only to come back," Sharper said, "but also to put a foot in [general manager] Ted Thompson's rear."

But Favre shouldn't expect the sympathy of Packers fans, Sharper told NFL Sirius Radio.

Sharper: "[I]t's going to probably be exponentially more [than] the backlash that I had to deal with once I came to Minnesota's side from the Packer fans. He's not going to want to answer any fan mail. He's not going to want to look at any Web sites or blogs because the way I took a beating when I left Green Bay and headed to Minnesota, to think of Brett Favre, a legend for the Packers, going to Minnesota? He won't be able to go back to ... Wisconsin to get inducted into the Packer Hall of Fame because they're going to be a little bit upset. But, in saying that, you have to understand it is a business. Even though I'm going to be playing on that Sunday, I'm going to make sure I Tivo that game when Green Bay plays Minnesota if Brett Favre is the QB for the Vikings because that's going to be one for the ages."

More to come from the Packers angle shortly.

I guess his days here are numbered.

What I wanna know is why everyone thinks this is such a great opportunity to get back at TT??

Really? Is it that much of a sure thing? What happens if Arod outplays him and Brettie struggles with the 3-4 as he has his entire career? Yes, I'm insinuating a Packer win in that case...

Does Brettie retire immediately after the game? How you gonna hold that one in check?

Could be a HUGE ASS backfire is all I'm saying ... then what, Brettie?

Not everyone. The only ones who think that have their own axe to grind with TT. And Darren, I am looking right at you.

I find all the sour grapes interesting. It tells me one thing. These guys loved playing in Green Bay and for us. They are totally pissed that they couldn't hang one one way or another. I was never sorry to see Sharper leave. He hasn't had an arm tackle in this millennium. Brett vs. Arod was also the right move. I read somewhere that Minnesota is the only place Brett will play. That just spells revenge to me.

Sharper...Sharper...Sharper...wasn't he the guy who always showed up a couple of seconds late to deliver a massive shot on a receiver after the receiver had say, scored the winning TD or picked up a 4th and 26? Kind of a center-field opportunist who wouldn't take a knee after making a game-ending interception? I seem to remember that guy. He played for the Packers a while ago, if I recall, and I also recall being really happy when he left.

But what happens if he does shove it in our faces? There are actually 3 things that could happen.

He plays terrible, looks like a clown.

He plays awesome, makes TT eat donkey shit.

He plays the same as what Arod is doing in GB and its a battle to the end and there really isn't a clear cut winner.

IF he does play good, and the Vikings succeed, you will not want to be a TT loving Packer fan because it will be extremely annoying as the Favre supporters will out number you.

I look forward to the competition. If Favre shows us up it's going to suck. If we smoke him, I'm going to love it.

Certainly it's going to be a lot of fun. Hopefully our guys come out on top. I really don't think he can play at Rodgers level though. Rodgers has all of hte skills right now and the drive to succeed. Brett looks very average.

Does Sharper not understand that a lot of Packer fans couldn't stand him in the first place? That when he left, they did not trash him because he was leaving, but that the only reason they had held back earlier was because he was a Packer? It would be different with Favre. A lot of people will have mixed emotions. Not so much when Darren went to Minnesota.

I really do not believe that if Favre plays well - all season long, this time - that this makes TT eat donkey feces.

Favre retired. Favre wanted to come back. MM flew down to make arrangements.Favre changed his mind. MM and TT moved on. Then Favre changed his mind - again. But it was too late. Favre got mad. He didn't want to have to compete for a job. TT traded Favre. Favre had a good first half of the season with the Jets and a lousy second half. A-Rod had a solid first season as a starter.

So if Favre comes back and plays well for a full season, how does that make TT look bad?

Here's where Sharper really blows whatever semblance of credibility he had left.
“You appreciate the loyalty that the fans have in Green Bay but the fans are just as loyal in Minnesota,” Sharper said.

Really? RIght now its 70-30 that believe TT was right.. If he plays well he makes TT do nothing. TT doesn't give a shit about wqhat Favre does or doesn't do. TT only cares about his team, the Green Bay Packers. ANd he isn't going to shove anything in my face even if he wins. I love ARod as our QB and FAvre can't change that.
