Apparently my arguments are so convincing, that rather than seeing my opinions as mine, people think they are their own!
If Favre tries to show up TT, MM and the GB organization, we will see a bunch of interceptions and the Packers could win. If Favre maintains his control, is willing to play as a complement to Peterson and the running game, the Vikings will win.
Keys to the game:
1. Favre's mental attitude and/or Bevell's ability to keep him under control. And I do mean Bevell, not Childress, Kevin Rogers or anyone else. Bevell knows Favre, how he reacts, how he can lose focus, and what is needed to keep him on track. Although, realistically, those who did it the best were Tom Clements and Mike McCarthy. I don't think Bevell ever did under Sherman.
2. Colledge has to play very well at LT for the Packers to have a chance. More than the defense stopping Peterson, more than any other player except Rodgers, for the Packers the game hinges on Colledge. I have never been a supporter of Colledge as the LT of the future.
3. For the Packers to win, their special teams have to outplay the Viking's special teams. Not play them to a draw, outplay them.
4. The Packers will need a touchdown on defense or special teams to win.
The Packers have not started seasons particularly well under McCarthy. The Vikings seem to get out of the gate better under Childress, but haven't always finished well. I expect the Vikings to win at home on Monday. Would I bet money on it? Absolutely not, because I think a lot of the pieces are in place on the Packers, and they will have a good season. The question is when will they put it all together. I do not see them doing it this week.
On a side note: The Vikings tend to finish poorly, so they pick up Favre, who tends to finish poorly. A marriage made in heaven for Packer and Bear fans!!
