I was going to ask this because I thought I remembered quite a few of the sacks being Havner screw ups. As good as he has looked catching TD's, he doesn't need to be on the field much more.Originally posted by The LeaperHavner? The guy is a liability in pass blocking...he missed NUMEROUS assignments Sunday, which led to several big negative plays.
His only plus is as a receiver...but Finley is light years better than Havner in that regard.

Plenty wanted TT to go get Sydney Rice and then some labled JJ for being just as good. Rice is the real deal now.
TT chose Nelson over some better WR's in round two. Sure would be nice to add D Jackson from the Eagles to our squad.TERD Buckley over Troy Vincent, Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers, Kevn King instead of TJ Watt, and now, RICH GANNON, over JIMMY JIMMY JIMMY LEONARD. Thank you FLOWER

Jackson would certainly fill the role of athlete/burner that we're desperately in need of. I'd have been for it.Originally posted by BretskyOriginally posted by PartialJordy has been a pleasant surprise while my boy JJ has been a dissapointment.

Agree with Lurker, Frankenbacker is closer to Vrabel than any other starting TE I have seen. He has skills to catch and sit in a zone, but blocks worse than Finley. We will still see him is specific matchups and situations. I'd be stunned if he isn't a regular in short yardage passing and inside the 10.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Sans Favre, how good is Rice, or is this another example of Favre making a receiver?Originally posted by BretskyPlenty wanted TT to go get Sydney Rice and then some labled JJ for being just as good. Rice is having a great year. He makes Favre's throws better. Unless you mean that Favre is making him better by chucking it up to him and trusting him go after it, because that happens. I don't mean this to take anything away from Favre because he's recognizing that Rice can make those happen, but he frequently underthrows the deep routes to Rice now but Rice gobbles them up.Originally posted by SmidgeonSans Favre, how good is Rice, or is this another example of Favre making a receiver?Originally posted by BretskyPlenty wanted TT to go get Sydney Rice and then some labled JJ for being just as good. Just goes to show how a player can come out of nowhere in the NFL. Until this year Rice didn't really do anything with the opportunities he's had while he wasn't injured. Now he looks like the best WR in the division.70% of the Earth is covered by water. The rest is covered by Al Harris.

Personally, I don't think Rice is anything special. Good? Maybe. Special? Nope. If he couldn't do it with Jackson throwing up the passes up for grabs and going up and getting them, why would he suddenly be able to do that now? Without watching each route, I speculate that Favre is leading him much, much better on routes, and that he's built up Rice's internal confidence that the ball will be there which has in turn elevated Rice's game. Favre has a gift of making receivers look great his entire career. Brady has Moss (future HOF), Manning had Harrison (future HOF?), Favre had Freeman (not HOF). I'm not saying Rice is bad. I'm just saying he's an athletic player that Favre is capitalizing on.Originally posted by denverYooperRice is having a great year. He makes Favre's throws better. And Megatron did it with a bad QB. Until Rice can do it without a future HOF QB, he's nothing special.Originally posted by PartialCalvin.Originally posted by 3irty1Just goes to show how a player can come out of nowhere in the NFL. He's having half the year because of a knee injury and a rookie QB throwing 55% and twice as many INTs as TDs. I'd take him any day over Rice. Even this year. Without hesitation.Originally posted by 3irty1I'd rather have Calvin on my team but he's having half the year that Rice is. That's cool. I probably overreacted. They tell me I'm getting grouchy in my old age.Originally posted by Brandon494Just busting your balls man, wasn't trying to take a shot at you. Just saying Havner is nothing more than a poor man's Mike Vrabel, no where near the talent of 2 of the top 5 TE's in the league.Originally posted by Maxie the TaxiMaybe I'm just ignorant. I thought of those two guys as not big play speedsters, but ball control receivers. I suppose if I spent more time researching I could come up with better comparisons.Originally posted by Brandon494Why else would you compare him to those two when both Clark and Witten have completely different games which Havner does not even come close too.Originally posted by Maxie the TaxiWhite? What does White have to do with anything?
Assuming motives is always dangerous. With all due respect, jumping to a conclusion of racism is just plain dumb.
Plus, I was probably overreaching with Dallas Clark and Witton. Maybe he's more Todd Heapish?
One time Lombardi was disgusted with the team in practice and told them they were going to have to start with the basics. He held up a ball and said: "This is a football." McGee immediately called out, "Stop, coach, you're going too fast," and that gave everyone a laugh.
