But in that case, the clock and your spent defense are just behind the score in importance. Its worth the risk considering the gain. Think about the Steelers having the ball with no timeouts and under 2 minutes.

I still think the risk is greater than the reward. You're saying that a player who has a chance to score the go ahead touchdown - not field goal, but touchdown - should pass on that? Again, the risks are too great. A fumble. A blocked kick. Heck, the way Crosby is kicking, a missed kick. Then you're behind.

Nah, you've got to take the six. Let your defense play defense.

I agree with Fritz in this situation. Not to mention he still would have had a minute and only needed to get into field goal position with Jeff Reed available. He's a great kicker in that place. A couple of passes and they're setting up for the FG to win it that way. We had a better chance trying to get a stop and couldn't get it done.

This is also a good point. Instead of making Pittsburgh have to get to the end zone, you leave them only having to get to about the 25 yard line.

Yea but there would have been approx a minute left with no timeouts. Not easy to go 60-70 yards assuming they start at their own 20.

The timeout and the two minute warning make it tough. I think the math would work if they score a TD, but if they instead settle for a FG, its too much time.

FWIW, I think Josh Bell might end up playing that 3rd corner pretty well for the rest of the season. I know he gave up the big play and I hated him for a moment but there's no way in hell that #24 would have been any closer to that ball than Bell was. I expect him to learn and get better as his snaps increase... hopefully they do.

If Jones takes a knee...the clock is going down to the 2 minute warning unless Pittsburgh uses their last time out before it gets to 2:00.

The Steelers could have only stopped the clock one more time after that play, so we could've run another 80 seconds off the clock...so if we had kicked a FG on 4th down to take the lead, the Steelers get the ball back with roughly 30 seconds left after the FG and kickoff return.
