  • Mock Draft (bored)

Tis the season to be excited about the future. The Packers are coming off an impressive season where they saw their young QB emerge as one of the games best. Improvement from within is expected across the board, but the deepest draft in a couple decades has Ted Thompson drooling over the possibility of adding playmakers to the group.

D1 - Brandon Graham - OLB - Michigan - Brad Jones shows up tougher against the run and more assignment sure but Brandon Graham is a terror rushing the passer. Jones plays base, Graham spends his rookie year as a pass rush specialist, racking up 10 sacks. Matthews, Jenkins, Raji and Graham make up a pretty fearsome foursome in our nickle/dime packages.

D2 - Morgan Burnett - S - GT - Great against the pass and a good tackler, what more can you ask for from a strong safety?

D3 - Jared Veldheer - OT - Hillside - The Packers draft Chad Clifton's successor. Veldheer dominated at his small school level, then impressed scouts again the the Texas vs Nation game. A huge framed kid, Veldheer stands 6'5" and weighs in at a trim 315 lbs. Veldheer is one of the more physically impressive lineman in this draft. On top of being big and strong, Veldheer also has elite athleticism.

D4 - Ciron Black - Black is just too good to pass up. He's spent his college career as one of the SEC's top lineman. Consistent and effective, Black has put together 53 starts, all at left tackle, against the best competition and he has passed the test. Black does not project as a LT on the next level because of his lack of raw athleticism, but a great OL prospect none the less. In the deepest draft in maybe decades, a top class football player from a big school drops to the 4th round and the Packers never look back. Black and Lang start competing for the LG and RT positions of the future.

D5 - Alterraun Verner - CB - UCLA - An instinctive, natural zone player and reliable tackler, Verner projects well into our zone defense.

D6 - Brent Bowden - P - VT - A well rounded punter, Bowden has a big leg, good touch, a quick get off, has developed consistency as a senior and is a good holder.

D7 -Michah Johnson - ILB - Kentucky - Injury concerns and a deep draft drop this quality ILB to the Packers. He'll immediately add competition to the group and maybe one day start.

Like it, but I don;t think the OT will still be there at 3.

Good one, I'd LOVE to get Graham and Burnett with the first two picks and still have a chance at the Hillsdale guy but shadow might be right...

Verner looks like good value at that spot also. He helped his stock at the combine.

i don't think Veldheer has a chance to last until our 3rd round pick

at this point i doubt he lasts until our 2nd round pick

i'd love to get him though

I'm a huge VT fan and would love if we drafted Brent Bowden, kid has a hell of a leg.

Am I really getting excited about the Packers drafting a punter?

It's quite possible Veldheer could slip to #86. He probably has 2nd round talent, but is also considered a project because of the talent level he's played against. That may cause him to drop.

J Meredith was a 2nd round talent who dropped all the way to the 5th round for us so its not out of the question.

Because we might trade up in the fourth round, and nobody wants to do that again.

With drafts like these and FA pick ups like Joe Johnson I don't see have any fan has the nerve to bash TT for what he has done since arriving in GB.

I know what you mean, but kudos to whoever was paying enough attention to select Williams in the 6th and Wells in the 7th. Those two have made quite a nice living considering the round in which they were selected.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

I was just think the same thing PB. Hell of a great back-end draft. Now if we could have the first 5 rounds back.
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.
