This is Favre's "skip training camp, show up in September excuse", nothing more.
Absolutely. This news leak just re-ups the chances of Favre coming back to the Vikings. I was happy to hear it.
I am sure it is just a "clean up", and he is going to draw it out, so his rehab will take him until the second, maybe even the third week of training camp.
If this were the Enterprise Jordy and Data would be working feverishly to create a containment field around this thread.

[QUOTE=George Cumby] ...every draft (Ted) would pick a solid, dependable, smart, athletically limited linebacker...the guy who isn't doing drugs, going to strip bars, knocking around his girlfriend or making any plays of game changing significance.

Also gets people talking about him again. Something that's barely happened since January.
Nonsense, he was on the Jay Leno Show in late febuary or early March and just at the beginning of the month he announce that he was a proud grandpappy.
So he has gone almost a month without being in the headlines.

It is an already accepted idea in purple country that he isnt coming to training camp per PA on KFAN. I think this is a real injury and he could have trouble with this one. My question is does he want to retire as the only guy never to miss a start or maybe go out on a bad note this year?
I am not a doctor and I AM willing to play one based on pictures only. That ankle looked pretty rough (and yes, I too believe the picture was released to deflect the INT criticism by focusing on something else) in the photos released by Brett's agent. So surgery doesn't surprise me.
Neither does the fact that he waiting until May to have it done.
I never recognized the similarities between later career Brett and Shaq.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

But seriously, I think this surgery has a good chance for success and someone who is quick to heal, a willingness to undergo a stringent rehab, a high pain tolerance and has a burning desire to play again will be ready for training camp by August 16th.
I hope you are wrong, but I doubt it. Oh and sorry about the thread, I know we are so jammed up with other breaking news in this intense offseason activity. (not directed at Max just the stupid rule)
Well, I'm the guy with the rule, and YES, it is the rule.
I'm going to leave this for now, because I really don't feel like moving 20+ posts, but I want all the Favre stuff in one thread, because it is easier for me to monitor it that way. I'm not reading two dozen Favre threads just because folks think their details are "important enough" for their own thread.
BlueBrewer if you read the posts on the first page, you'll see this this is already starting to get combative. If I feel like consolidating it after that happens, I will, if not, I'm deleting it.
If you have issues with the "Favre rule" I invite you to PM me and we'll discuss it.
Just somethign to think about. . . Brett's pretty old. He's at that age where performance enhancers would really help him hold on. How does the policy work? If he doesn't show up, does he avoid testing until he comes in?
The past few years, he's clearly manipulating around, trying to miss camp. There has to be more of a reason than, "I just ond't want to go to work with my teammates yet".
Was it Fritz that said he imagined every poster as if they looked like their avatar?
I think it was. I am certainly influenced by that. My longtime avatar is an cropped excerpt from the hip flask that was sold on the Packers website a few years back. I plan to toss back a few this weekend, so in my case it's oddly accurate.
