  • NFC North QB Rankings 2010

In honor of Rastak, I've decided to continue his tradition of ranking NFC North QB Ratings, which I always enjoyed. If I get lazy and don't update this thread and someone else wants to, feel free to carry the torch.

QB Rating stats are from NFL.com

    1. Jay Cutler 108.3
    2. Matthew Stafford 86.2
    3. Aaron Rodgers 73.1
    4. Brett Favre 71.7
    5. Shaun Hill 38.9

    Amateur analysis:

Pretty safe to say that excluding Hill, divisional QB rankings are almost the exact opposite of what most of us expect them to be at the end of the season. Cutler's monster yardage numbers and 2 TDs help offset his inevitable INT. Stafford was relatively effective prior to his injury, Rodgers and Favre generated pedestrian ratings by their standards. If the Hill-Johnson controversial non-TD was ruled complete, Hill may have approached triple digits.

    Next week's outlook:

Expect the rankings to trend back towards career norms. Both Favre and Rodgers face what should be easier opponents in week one, while the level of difficulty for Cutler increases significantly from Lions to Cowboys. Will be interesting to see how effective Hill can be taking the place of the injured Stafford against a tough opponent.

glad to see this list return. It's fun to watch.

Of note, despite the yardage advantage for cutler, both favre and rodgers threw just as many TD's as Int's, which is also against trending of last season. Favre lost a passing threat, GB lost it's RB - so they both are a tad short handed, though most would agree Favre is in a worse situation - with Berrian being unreliable and harvin in his first yera starting, no longer coming out of the slot.

That Camirrilo kid or whatever his name in looks like he could be something though once the chemistry clicks.

Meanwhile - rodgers has a lot of weapons. Trending should show favre and rodgers back competeing one and two if not this week, at least by mid season.

      Good work Superfan.

Bring back Bretzky and Rastak. WE need solid posters like them back @ Packerrats. They both were excellent contributors and I miss them.

        Rastak was posting this week!
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

Jay Cutler should stay right up there if he can get a 90 yard screen pass every week.

Hill's rating would have been 68.75 if the TD pass to Johnson has been allowed.
Edit: It would have been 76.59 since the next two incompletions would never have happened.

That old Mike Martz magic. Its so disappointing to see something go right for the Bears at QB.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Well, with a change of Cutler coming back to earth and Rodgers getting back into triple digits.

I've been anticipating a Mike Martz revolution on Cutler. Cutler could have a career year but he'll still suck when it really counts [playoffs]. Yes, Bears in the playoffs in 2010/11 - smart coach too!

I wouldn't go that far. Chicago barely beat Detroit at home. The Dallas win seems impressive but I am more not sold on Dallas than giving CHI mad props.

We'll have a better idea come next Monday. We will also see if the Pack can win on the road in the NFC-North.

Adding some icons to show improvement or regression from previous week.

                        = Improved
                        = Regressed

                        After Week 3:

                        Jay Cutler 109.7
                        Aaron Rodgers 93.3
                        Shaun Hill 66.7
                        Brett Favre 60.4

Not much movement other than Cutler dropping significantly.

                          After Week 4:

                          Jay Cutler 102.2
                          Aaron Rodgers 96.3
                          Shaun Hill 70.2
                          Brett Favre 60.4 bye

Rodgers continues to creep slowly towards the top of the rankings. Cutler continues to fade, and his best chance to stay on top might be missing significant time to injury. Shaun Hill put up gaudy numbers, but his 2 INTs hurt his rating significantly.

Cutler out this week, so he probably keeps the lead, unless Arod really lights up the Redskins. Bad week fir Favre to make any headway, with the Jets game.
