    After Week 5:

    Jay Cutler 102.2 DNP
    Aaron Rodgers 90.7
    Shaun Hill 78.0
    Brett Favre 67.0

    Todd Collins 5.9

Pretty dull this year, as at least 10 points separates each player.

    NFL Ranks:

    5 Cutler
    12 Rodgers
    23 Hill
    30 Favre

Despite improving his rating, only 3 QBs have a lower rating than Favre - Sam Bradford, Derek Anderson, Jimmy Clausen.

Both Rodgers (Miami) and Hill (Giants) face tough pass defenses this week. Cutler, if he plays, faces a weak Seattle pass defense.

Pretty stunning that Collins actually won a game with that horror of a QB rating! But then, he got to play Clausen and Moore (Is there a worse QB tandem in the NFL this year......or ever? Even Whitehurst/Wright/Zorn was better LOL)

(edit: actually I don't think those three were together at one time, it just sounds better because they were oh so bad circa 1986 following Dickey's dismissal by Gregg)

Favre did improve though, so his rating is on the rise. Rodgers is still doing fine rating wise, even if we're not putting points on the board.

Cutler has certainly been a bit of surprise this year.

Yahoo Sports boxscore credits Collins with a 6.3 rating. Not sure why they should have 6.3, and NFL.com 5.9, but who really cares...

Per Yahoo, Clausen with a 29.7 rating and Matt Moore with a studly 18.8 rating. Yuck.

Pretty amazing that a QB can put up a single digit QB rating and win the game by 17 points. That may say more about the Panthers than the Bears.

                After Week 6:

                Jay Cutler 93.2
                Aaron Rodgers 89.7
                Shaun Hill 79.6
                Brett Favre 72.1

Aaron Rodgers in two overtime games - 3 attempts, 1 completion, 5 yards, 1 interception, 2 sacks = (if the calculator I used is correct) QB Rating 2.78.

Triple facepalm for Rodgers in OT.

Cutler faces Washington this week. Opposing QB's have a 90.9 passer rating against Washington. Rodgers faces Minnesota (82.5) and Favre faces Green Bay (76.0). Detroit has a bye.

                      Thought I would update it

                      After Week 7:

                      Aaron Rodgers 89.0
                      Jay Cutler 84.1
                      Shaun Hill 79.6 Bye week
                      Brett Favre 68.0

                      Cutler with the major regression.
Rodgers with the very slight Regression.
                      Favre with the Medium regression.
                      Hill stays with a bye

Tough year in general so far for the NFC North QBs.

Individual NFL QB Rating Rankings through Week 7:

                        12. Rodgers
                        21. Cutler
                        23. Hill
                        30. Favre

Team NFL QB Rating Rankings through Week 7:

                        14. Packers
                        21. Lions
                        29. Bears
                        30. Vikings

That's just poor QB play all around. No QBs in the top 10, and Favre still only ahead of Derek Anderson, who has been benched, and the Carolina QBs, Moore and Clausen. And two of the bottom four teams in terms of QB rating.

So, being the NFC North (smash mouth, black and blue, hardnosed, etc.), these teams must be compensating with strong RB play, right? Well, no. Not really.

                        7. Vikings, 136.2 yards per game
                        20. Packers, 99.3
                        30. Bears, 88.6
                        31. Lions, 79.0

Poor offensive performances overall for the division. Vikings have done well rushing the ball and defensively (7th in yards per game, 11th in points per game), but QB play is really dragging them down. Bears are a bit of an anomaly with a winning record and bad QB rating and rushing yards per game, but their defense is still pretty strong (6th in ypg and ppg).

Tough year for the elite QB's so far. Brees (109.6/91.4), Favre (107.2/68.0), Rivers (104.4/97.8), and Rodgers (103.2/89.0) all have lower passer ratings so far this year compared to last year.
                          Manning is slightly higher (99.9/103.4).

After Week 8, NFL ranking in parentheses:

                            (16) Aaron Rodgers 85.3
                            (19) Jay Cutler 84.1 Bye week
                            (23) Shaun Hill 79.6 Did not play, Stafford not enough stats to qualify
                            (29) Brett Favre 69.8

                            Divisional grade =

One of the worst divisions in football for overall QB rating.

Cutler faces Buffalo pass defense that is the worst in the NFL. They've given up 15 TD passes with 1 INT. Rodgers faces Dallas which hasn't been much better. Favre faces Arizona which has been decent. Favre may not have Harvin though. Detroit faces the Jets.
