Why does MM steadfastly refuse to run the football today? After closing out last week's game with the run, he won't use it today?

The injuries are a factor, no doubt. But your defense was battered and it held up.

And the Skins' D is statistically one of the worst in the league. And the Packers can score only 13?

This season is turning into a mess.
Will agree on the run. BJack was seein' it a little today and should have got more carries. He had 10 carries for 115 yards... 11.5 ypc. You can play the "take out the 71 yarder game but that still gives 9/44, almost 5 per carry. He looked pretty good.

    • Drops and penalties will kill even the best passing game, Fritz. There were too many of both today.

I'm really bugged about this - supposedly all this talented receivers would take up slack - there was so much talent! - but when MM won't even pretend to run the football, stuff's not going to work in the passing game because the Skins' D doesn't have to honor the run.

This seems to be to me about more than just injuries. This is an offense that has no identity. An offense without a running game is like a man without balls.
I don't think the running game is the problem. The Redskins have about the worst pass defense in the league and they couldn't attack them there effectively. Finley opens up the whole offense IMO. Without him, it's too easy to take Jennings out of the game and the rest of the guys can pretty much be singled up pretty consistently.

Guys need to hang on to the ball too. Driver had 4 drops, Jones had a bunch, and so on. I'd like to think that won't continue. It's amazing how the NFL is such a game of inches. We barely lose the Bear game, we barely win the Lion game, and we barely lose this game. If Mason's kick clanks in we win just like that. It didn't and we didn't

            • How bout the fucking TOP receiving corp in the league catch the fucking ball? How many drops today? Useless motherfuckers. Oh, and I thought the refs weren't supposed to call close calls at the end of the game. Two in a row to fuck us over (I'd argue neither were even real penalties). MM did his job (except for not challenging Jordy's TD early in the game). The receivers we have are shit, and fuck the refs.

I have a hard time putting too much blame on MM

Somewhere in the middle of this thread posters criticized MM for a series when Jackson run for about seven or so.........and then MM ran Jackson wide off tackle and he was stuffed for a two yard loss. Then an incomplete pass and punt. It was pointed out that is where you use Kuhn and pound it straight forward for a first down.

A few series later, Jackson ran for six yards. Kuhn came in and they tried to do exactly what a couple posters suggested.........and Kuhn lost two to three yards.

Take the Seventy Two Yard run away. What is our yards per carry ? Our running game lacked consistency and that's why MM lacks confidence there.

I don't blame MM for not having confidence in the run game.
I don't blame MM for not thinking the run game can be consistent with Jacksona and Kuhn

I do completely agree that right now our offense lacks an identity

                • Dropped passes by DD was dissapointing too - all 4 of them.

AR hasn't been in rhythm for a whole game this season. More on dispute between AR & McCarthy? I think so for sure - though it might be kept indoors or it might blow out in the press too.

Nice to know there are still some posters on here who aren't crabby ass motherfuckers who wait with baited breath for the team to lose so they can let out all their frustration from the real world on Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson.
I'm not one to blow smoke up anyone's ass just to make it all lollipops and roses, but when the Offense can't convert a 3rd and 2, you know there's a problem.

Completely agree here; and anybody who really thought Jones and Nelson could be dominant number two WR's for most teams are probably disappointed here.

woodson practically tackled the guy. pretty tough to argue that one.

poppinga? maybe, but his hand was around the guys waist.

both of them were fair calls in my opinion
