Sullivan at center for the Vikes makes a big difference on their o-line. He left the game last week, I think with a calf injury. If he's out, the Packers will be more successful bottling up Peterson and forcing Favre to be himself this year. If he's in (and healthy), Favre and Peterson will both be better and it will be a dog fight.

The Packers' run game as-is isn't built for turf, which is a bit concerning. This would be a good game to have a guy like Starks ready to go, although I have no misgivings about him even being active.

    Packers 24-17

Packers are 20-16 on the road under McCarthy [pretty ok] but what's the record in big games? Yeah, this is big when Bert is the purple QB, it's road game & a divisional rivalry. Actually, I think Packers, under McCarthy, has had more trouble vs lesser teams & teams that are on par with GB.

Well.... we just beat the 5-1 Jets on the road which seemed like a huge win to me. Winning that Jets game may be the reason we get into the playoffs this year. No one expected us to win that game with a completely healthy team this year yet alone with 9 players on the IR and 3 on the PUP.
But Rodgers leads the league in frumpy expressions and negative body language on the sideline, which makes him, like Josh Allen, a unique double threat.

It was a rhetorical post & I reflected on my own Q; your A didn't quite hit my pondering but I hear what you're saying too!

This game will be close ONLY because it is in the Humpty Dump. The Vikes are better on turf than they are on grass and we all know Gramps would love nothing more than beat us yet again. If we don't turn the ball over, keep Peterson from running wild and pound #4 into the ground we should win.

Can you post road records of all the top teams for the last 3 or 4 years? It would be interesting to see how MM compares. To me anything over .500 on the road seems good.

Packers 29, Vikings 17. Mason Crosby kicks 5 field goals and finally vanquishes the spectre of Ryan Longwell.

Indianapolis and New England (26-11 each)
                        New York Giants (24-12)

                        Pittsburgh (19-18).
So basically only 11 teams have winning records on the road and we are 1 of them. You kind of have the top 6 (at 7 games or more above .500) and 5 teams at 5 games or less above .500. I guess when you look at the Superbowl winners you see the dominant road performers (other than Pitt)

Looks like Rice is playing for this game. However, he's still hurt and he said himself that he doesn't think he can go all game. An injured Rice might be worse then a healthy backup WR for the Vikings. Looks like good news to me.

Our DL looks to be much healthier this game. The Pack will be a lot more stout up front because they won't have to use Lang on the line. We'll see a difference up front on D.

Minny's D might pick up a couple of sacks b/c of the home field advantage (turf + noise) but I would put money on our guys getting more consistent pressure (sacks, hits, hurries) on Sunday because the Defensive hogs will be a lot more fresh than in the first meeting.

When our Dline is healthy - and I mean specifically Raji, Pickett, and Green - is there a bigger/wider/beefier Dline trio in the NFL - Pound for pound?
