The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports Chris Ivory will be placed on the reserve/PUP list to start the year, making him ineligible for the first six weeks of the season. He has been recovering from foot surgery and a sports hernia.

Rookie Mark Ingram, veteran Pierre Thomas, and Darren Sproles make up the top three spots at the position. Ivory’s injury may allow Joique Bell to make the roster. Bell was not on the initial list of cuts obtained by the Picayune.

They report the following players were let go: T Jordan Black, S Quincy Butler, T George Foster, TE Tory Humphrey, CB Trumaine McBride, S Pierson Prioleau, S Chris Reis, FB Chris Taylor (from reserve/injured, injury settlement), WR Montez Billings, DT Dexter Larimore, TE Tyler Lorenzen, LB Dwight Roberson.

Humphrey is probably the biggest surprise. Reis famously recovered the team’s onside kick in the Super Bowl. Prioleau was a useful special teamer.

The team also placed running back Patrick Cobbs, wideout Joe Morgan, and safety Paul Oliver on injured reserve. Morgan looked like he could be a factor before getting hurt.

UPDATE (10:27 a.m. ET): PFT has confirmed that Ivory has indeed been placed on the reserve/PUP list.

Every team needs to cut 27 players to get from the 80-man limit to the 53-man limit. The Browns have 17 cuts down and 10 to go.

The Browns have announced that they waived offensive lineman Branndon Braxton, defensive lineman Andre Carroll, receiver L.J. Castile, offensive lineman Calton Ford, defensive back Coye Francies, tight end Evan Frosch, defensive back Carl Gettis, linebacker Eric Gordon, defensive lineman Travis Ivey, receiver Chris Matthews, linebacker Steve Octavien, defensive lineman Ko Quaye, defensive back Ramzee Robinson, defensive back DeAngelo Smith, linebacker Sidney Tarver and offensive lineman Phil Trautwein. They also terminated the contract of receiver Demetrius Williams.

Cleveland’s roster currently stands at 63 players.

The Carolina Panthers roster cuts are still trickling, but here’s an update of what we know now.

CHARLOTTE – The Carolina Panthers have cut defensive tackles Corvey Irvin and Nick Hayden, as well as running back Tyrell Sutton.
The Panthers have also released defensive tackle DelJuan Robinson, defensive ends Malcolm Tatum and Ugo Chinasa, cornerback Kendric Burney, linebacker Sean Ware, wide receiver Darvin Adams, offensive linemen Ryan Pugh, Jacob Bender and John Giannonoto and kicker Adi Kunalic.
The team also plans to place offensive lineman Garry Williams on injured reserve after he fractured his ankle in Thursday night’s preseason finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The moves leave the Panthers with three defensive tackles on the roster – rookies Sione Fua and Terrell McClain and second-year-player Andre Neblett, who has started one NFL game.


Undrafted rookie offensive tackle Byron Bell has made the roster.
That leaves the Panthers roster at 65 players.
The Panthers must get down to 53 players by 6 p.m.

The Carolina Panthers are closing in on the 53-man roster limit.

Steve Reed of CarolinaGrowl.com reports that the significant Panthers cuts so far include defensive tackles Corvey Irvin and Nick Hayden and running back Tyrell Sutton.

Other Panthers cuts include defensive tackle DelJuan Robinson, defensive ends Malcolm Tatum and Ugo Chinasa, cornerbacks C.J. Wilson and Kendric Burney, linebackers Lawrence Wilson and Sean Ware, wide receivers Darvin Adams and Jamorris Warren, offensive linemen Ryan Pugh, Jacob Bender and John Gianninoto and kicker Adi Kunalic.

Panthers offensive lineman Garry Williams will go on injured reserve after suffering a broken ankle in Thursday night’s preseason finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and rookie cornerback Brandon Hogan will go on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

The Panthers are now at 61 players and will cut eight more in the next couple of hours.

The Ravens delivered good news to rookies LaQuan Williams and Anthony Allen and bad news to veterans Tavares Gooden, Jalen Parmele and Lamar Divens Saturday as the team worked at paring its roster to the NFL limit of 53.

Williams, a Baltimore native and former Maryland Terrapins receiver who was signed by the Ravens as an undrafted free agent last month, made the team. So did Allen, the team’s s 2011 seventh-round draft pick, who beat out Parmele for the No. 3 running back job behind Ray Rice and Ricky Williams.

The biggest name among those released was Gooden, a fourth-year linebacker who was the Ravens’ third-round pick in 2008 – the 71st player taken in that year’s draft.

A pass-rush specialist from Miami, he was originally regarded as a player who could work his way into the starting lineup, but he never made it, and instead, was passed on the depth chart by Jameel McClain and Dannell Ellerbe.

He was a strong special teams player throughout his career in baltimore, but that skill is being marginalized to a degree this season by the NFL's new kickoff rules, which are limiting returns.

Parmele had fun with his bad news on Twitter, writing, "just been released! will not be a Raven this year! Ima miss my teammates and their steroid, dark skin and bald headed jokes."

In another Tweet, Parmele wrote, "But Ima miss lining up with them on game day the most...It's been fun Bmore, enjoyed bein a Raven. Appreciate the love!"

Other early cuts included veteran tight end Davon Drew, who was beaten out for the No. 3 tight end job by veteran Kris Wilson.

More cuts will be made throughout the afternoon Saturday leading up to the league’s roster deadline of 6 p.m.

Baltimore became the third team to get down to their 53-man roster on Saturday, with a huge group of cuts that including linebacker Tavares Gooden.

Gooden started 10 games in 2009, but slowly fell out of favor. Here’s the full list of cuts:

Center Tim Barnes, running back Damien Berry, guard Justin Boren, linebacker Prescott Burgess, linebacker Josh Bynes, quarterback Hunter Cantwell, defensive back Danny Gorrer, defensive tackle Lamar Divens, tight end Davon Drew, wide receiver James Hardy, defensive tackle Bryan Hall, cornerback Talmadge Jackson, fullback Ryan Mahaffey, tight end Johdrick Morris, defensive tackle Arthur Jones, center Jason Murphy, running back Jalen Parmele, guard Andre Ramsey, long snapper Patrick Scales, defensive tackle Marcus Simmons, wideout Marcus Smith, linebacker Chavis Williams, safety Nate Williams, and cornerback Josh Victorian.

Burgess was a solid special teamer last year. Hardy was a second round pick with the Bills; Marcus Smith was a fourth-rounder by the Ravens in 2008.

Baltimore also placed second-year tackle Ramon Harewood on injured reserve. He hasn’t taken a snap in two years because of injuries.

Cuts come today

Coach Gary Kubiak and general manager Rick Smith were working on the 53-man roster Friday, and it won't be announced until today.

Receiver Dorin Dickerson, linebacker Xavier Adibi, defensive lineman Damione Lewis and tight end Anthony Hill are among the players known to have been waived.

The Kansas City Chiefs haven't officially announced any roster cuts but we can figure a few of them out as they start trimming the roster from 80 to 53 players.

First, S Reshard Langford and LB Micah Johnson have both tweeted that they've been released. Of those two, Langford was a guy I thought could be landing on the 53-man roster but it's not a major surprise he was cut, if you ask me.

Second, WR Zeke Markshausen has also been waived. He tells his hometown paper that the turk picked his name yesterday.

Running list of Miami Dolphins roster cuts: QB Kevin O’Connell one of the first to go

The 32 NFL teams have to cut their rosters from 80 to 53 players by 6 p.m. Eastern today.

As of 12:30 p.m., most of the Dolphins’ players have not been informed of their fate. But a few guys have already been told that they have not made the team. The biggest name so far is quarterback Kevin O’Connell, who was cut after signing with the Dolphins at the start of training camp. Meanwhile, players like DL Ryan Baker and undrafted rookie OLB Quinton Spears have expressed cautious optimism that they will make the team.

This is the list of players that we have confirmed were already cut. We will update it as the day goes on:
