Among the players who didn’t make the New York Jets’ 53-man roster is wide receiver Scotty McKnight, the best buddy of quarterback Mark Sanchez.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, other Jets cuts include quarterback Drew Willy, four offensive linemen (Dennis Landolt, Nevin McCaskill, Peter Clifford, Trevor Canfield), wide receivers Dan DePalma and Michael Campbell, three linebackers (Brashton Satele, Joey Laroque and Eddie Jones), safeties Davon Morgan and Byron Landor, defensive end Lorenzo Washington, running back Chris Jennings and tight end Keith Zinger.

The Jets have 11 more cuts to make to reach the 53-man limit.

      CHARGERS @71

Your best source for quality Los Angeles Chargers news, rumors, analysis, stats and scores from the fan perspective.

The San Diego Chargers have begun letting players know that they're being released. They need to cut 27 players in all by 3pm today to get down to the 53-man roster limit. Here's who we know has been released thusfar (source):

      Seyi Ajirotutu
      Laurent Robinson
      Kelley Washington
      Ogemdi Nwagbuo
      Quinton Teal
      Ramon Broadway
      Ricky Schmitt
      Isaac Odim
      Kevin Bentley

I'll do my best to keep you guys updated as soon as more names come out. Obviously the biggest names on this list are Ajirotutu, who had a very good game against the 49ers on Thursday, and Nwagbuo.

      Star-divide
The release of Seyi and Robinson, who had an even better game on Thursday, along with Washington seems to spell out that Richard Goodman and Bryan Walters are the WRs that made the cut after being on the bubble.

The release of Bentley leads me to believe that Stephen Cooper has won that battle, which makes sense because he looked strong against San Francisco.

              PATRIOTS @69

Sammy Morris found a second life in New England four years ago at age 30, but it appears his run with the Patriots is over.

Morris’ agent said on Twitter Saturday that the veteran running back was let go. That would appear to indicate that rookies Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen are healthy and ready to start the season.

News of Patriots cuts have slowly leaked out all day. The most surprising name so far has been defensive end Eric Moore, who opened camp with the starting unit.

Other Patriots leg go, per the Boston Globe, Boston Herald and CSNNE.com: DE Markell Carter, DE Aaron Lavarias, WR Tiquan Underwood, DE Alex Silvestro, DL Landon Cohen, special teamer Niko Koutouvides, RB Eric Kettani, and DL Landon Cohen.

              UPDATE:

              Brandon Merriweather cut.
              Brandon Tate, WR cut.

Nathan Vasher cut by the Lions.

Is this the end of the road for him? Had the skill to have a long career, but I think injuries have slowed him.

I follow Bedard on Twitter. The Pats cut Merriweather and are likely to cut some NFL quality DL (according to him, they're stacked on the DL). We should look there!!!!

The Packers LBs, S, DL, and OL could all use some improvements. There's gotta be some guys out there that could help.

Like several other teams, the Eagles are moving from 80 players to 53 in phases.

The first wave of cuts includes nine players: cornerback Jamar Wall, receiver Rod Harper, defensive end Chris Wilson, linebackers Rashad Jeanty, center A.Q. Shipley, tight end Cornelius Ingram, running back Stanley Havili, guard/center Dallas Reynolds, and running back Graig Cooper.
                        UPDATE:

It’s only fitting that the “Dream Team” have some recognizable guys that couldn’t make the team.

We mentioned Sinorice Moss earlier. We can also report that defensive linemen Anthony Hargrove and Derek Landri were let go, according to Hargrove’s Twitter account and Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Hargrove was last with the Saints. Landri played in Carolina. (Perhaps he’ll return.)

McLane expects the Eagles to keep four defensive tackles: Mike Patterson, Antonio Dixon, Trevor Laws, and Cullen Jenkins.

Joey Haynos is available. He would be a fantastic 6th TE.

                              JAGUARS @66

Submitted by Tania Ganguli on September 3, 2011 - 1:55pm Tania Ganguli's Blog

Here's a running list, to be updated throughout the day, of players who have been cut.

The Jaguars have to trim their roster to 53 players, and then will be able to assemble an eight-man practice squad. Two interesting social media messages from a pair of rookies. Safety Matt Estrada posted on facebook that he is officially an NFL player and Richard Murphy posted on Twitter that he's "officially a jag." That could mean practice squad or 53-man roster.

This is not an easy day for general manager Gene Smith, who makes a point to take care in being sensitive with how cuts are made.

Noted this here, but the Jaguars will place backup running back Rashad Jennings on injured reserve. He suffered a knee injury against the Buffalo Bills. That is another player that won't count against the 53-man roster.

RB Albert Young -- The Jaguars released Young on Friday, the only official cut they made that day. It made room on the roster for the ceremonial signing of Fred Taylor, so he could retire a Jaguar.

RS Scotty McGee -- McGee was drafted as a cornerback/return specialist, but quickly became just a return specialist. He was rarely allowed to work with the corners, which was a bad sign for him once the Jaguars drafted Cecil Shorts, who can return punts. The Jaguars told McGee they were releasing him Friday. He took his name plate of his locker when he left.

DE Larry Hart -- The 2010 draft pick was one of four players who came into camp more than 10 pounds overweight. He worked to lose the weight, but fought an uphill battle. Hart's agent announced he was cut on Twitter.

WR Armon Binns -- The undrafted rookie was told he was released yesterday, then he posted this on Twitter: "the Lord works n mysterious ways....jus gotta keep grindin n keep the faith it's all gon work out4 the best"

WR Dontrelle Inman -- Along with Binns, one of three undrafted rookie receivers still on the roster for Thursday night's game. Inman was told he was released Friday.

TE Tommy Gallarda -- Gallarda was told he'll be released Friday. He will be a practice squad guy if he clears waivers. This cut surprised starting tight end Marcedes Lewis, who said he'd been very impressed by Gallarda.

TE Joey Haynos -- Haynos didn't spend long with the Jaguars and was told he'll be released yesterday. He spent the 2010 season on the Miami Dolphins' injured reserve.

TE Kyle Miller -- Miller was also told he was cut Friday. He was an undrafted rookie out of Mount Union.

DL Andrew Lewis -- Lewis, an undrafted rookie, was told he was released yesterday.

LB Scott Lutrus -- This undrafted rookie impressed people early in training camp. Not enough to make the 53-man roster. He was told he'd be released yesterday.

CB Terrence Wheatley -- Wheatley said on Twitter today his time in Jacksonville was up. He was a second-round draft pick by the New England Patriots in 2008.

CB Jalil Johnson -- Johnson was told yesterday the Jaguars were releasing him. He is an undrafted rookie.

LB Mike Lockley -- Lockley was released and will be on the practice squad if he clears waivers. Lockley was fined $20,000 for a hit against the New England Patriots last month. A hearing for his appeal for that fine will probably be heard Tuesday. The league can't take the money until after a hearing. It's also unclear whether Lockley would be responsible for the fine if he makes the practice squad, where he'll earn considerably less than the rookie minimum. If he gets picked up off waivers for a 53-man roster, then the fine would follow him to that team.

OT Daniel Baldridge -- Baldrige was on the Jaguars practice squad last season. He came in as an undrafted rookie last year and could wind up there again if he clears waivers.

RB DuJuan Harris -- Harris was told today he'd be released and then signed to the practice squad if he clears waivers. Harris came in this year as an undrafted free agent and he's pleased with the arrangement.
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.
