I really have no idea for sure, but I suspect it is the same building that is at the bottom of the aerial photo you posted. The bleachers in that end zone aren't very high. The building might be only about 3 stories.Originally posted by red View Postnice find patler
ok, so that original picture is looking at the north endzone
and the building is clearly missing from the overhead picture

OK, you made me drag out the older Packer Yearbooks, and this is what I see from various photos in the Yearbooks 1960-1969:
- There appears to be about 20 rows of seats in that end zone section.
- Most of those rows are actually below the level of the parking lot, the "rise" above ground level is minimal, just a few rows.
- The building appears to be a two-story (maybe 3 story) office building built in the early 1960s, perhaps '61 or '62.
- Yes, that low office building does rise significantly above the upper most level of the stands in the end zone since the field was so much below grade.

Something else interesting:
That section of taller stands on the right in PBMax's 1st photo (with the powerline transformer pole rising behind it) and showing through the arms of the official signaling touch down in the Ice Bowl photos, was not part of the regular stands. It was a separate section of stands erected on the parking lot and spaced a fair distance behind the regular bleachers. The flagpole in front of it is in the parking lot, perhaps 10-20 feet behind the end zone bleachers.
Seeing this reminds me that they removed temporary bleachers when they completed enclosing the bowl.

More importantly, I think the Packers were housing an ICBM during the Cold War for increased funding. See the shadow from nowhere on the left of my building in red's photo. That's probably why the heaters went out before the Ice Bowl. Government construction.
Or nuclear test.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Sure, A lot of those Ice Bowl Pics were doctored. In addition to removing all the steam, in some picutures, they even removed some of the more objectionable fans.

I'm not sure what shadow you are talking about, and this is just a wild assed guess, butOriginally posted by red View Postand what the hell is that big shadow anyways?
A lot of photos of football fields from the '60s and '70s show huge, unexplained shadows; but there is an explanation. In those days, NFL and college games were often covered by the Goodyear Blimp. They commonly had aerial pictures from the blimp during the games. You would see its shadow pass over the field quite commonly. For a while they had several blimps, and one was always in South Bend for home ND games which were taped and rebroadcast Sunday mornings. It would come on Fridays and tie up in South Bend Friday night. It was common for that blimp to then go to an NFL game in the midwest on Sunday.
The blimp used to be quite a show at football games because lens technology at the time required it to be quite close. They used to let it fly right over the stadiums, from end to end. Now lenses let them stay much higher, and farther away, and things aren't allowed to fly directly over the stadiums.
The shadow you see might be from the blimp, from which the picture may have been taken.

so in my overhead picture we are looking south, correct? is that what we're come to?
but is that a giant scoreboard on top of the stands and right in front of the building?
and what the hell is that big shadow anyways?

Great pic PB. I always wondered why the Rams don't use that white/blue outfit for their throwback unis. They always go with the yellow/blue which is ok but I still remember the tough games the mid-60's Rams played with Roman Gabriel at qb vs the Pack.Originally posted by pbmax View PostThey are really going for a throwback feel.
