I would vote for either Eric Clapton or Henson Cargill - but that's just me.

Despite the vote on Top Gear (British car show on BBCA) the best driving song of all time is Run To The Hills. By the time that song is done, its a miracle if I am not doing 90.Originally posted by Upnorth View PostI would never have put you as a Maiden Fan, NICE!
Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

How about Arcade Fire? Would that cheer you up enough after Snow Patrol?Originally posted by mraynrand View PostColdplay is fine with me. So is James Blunt, Daniel Powter or Snow Patrol. Just so long as they distribute revolvers so I can blow the top of my head off and end the pain.
The best option for the Superbowl is to put Amy Winehouse out there.
Is Amy Winehouse as good a singer as her You Tube stuff seems to suggest? I never knew her work, only the controversy, but when she passed I played a couple of her videos and was pleasantly surprised.
I would be OK with Clapton. I saw him in concert with Stevie Ray Vaughn and SRV blew him away in a large venue. Unfortunately, as with Winehouse, its going to be tough to book.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. Then he asked for more hookers and blow.

Cold Play is huge internationally. But they have wrong act for arena.Originally posted by JustinHarrell View PostJim Rome summed it up about as well as you could. It has to be an international name, a group people in Europe, Asia and Africa have heard. This isn't for just you. This is a big, international audience.
Beck would be good, but too artsy fartsy for event.
Just give Kid Rock the whole show and be done with it

You know, those shows are really stupid and pointless, but here's another take: Throughout my entire youth, the Packers were really quite awful, and, with the exception of actually winning a playoff game in '82 and despite putting up a fight in the Divisional loss at Dallas, I knew the team never had a chance to make to the NFCC game, let alone a Superbowl. So the whole concept of the Superbowl was otherworldly. That was something the Raiders, Redskins, Steelers, Cowboys, and Niners played in and won and the Vikings and Bills lost.
So in 1996 when the Packers were in the Superbowl and all the pregame shows had pointlessly stupid pregame interviews with players, their wives, their dogs, and their tattoo artists, I was stunned with a overwhelming sensation of the surreal - this can't be the Packers getting this attention, can it? This is not for us, etc. etc. So I don't watch the pregame programs or the halftime show (we play snow football at halftime), but I have them on and love the idea that these programs are geared at least 1/2 towards the Packers and it signifies that, impossibly, the Packers are in the Superbowl itself."Never, never ever support a punk like mraynrand. In 1996, I felt much the same way. Same as when the Browns would get a coveted game writeup in SI, or a single-game of coverage on Divisional Weekend by Zimmerman. But with the TV stuff, after watching, it was like popcorn or cotton candy. You had been eating forever but were still not full.Originally posted by mraynrand View PostYou know, those shows are really stupid and pointless, but here's another take: Throughout my entire youth, the Packers were really quite awful, and, with the exception of actually winning a playoff game in '82 and despite putting up a fight in the Divisional loss at Dallas, I knew the team never had a chance to make to the NFCC game, let alone a Superbowl. Slowly, but surely I abandoned these programs because it wasn't worth the time. I do miss some interesting stuff (like the piece on Jones' early life on Thanksgiving) but have many more important things to attend to. And contrary to game announcing and halftime shows, which obviously need to be directed at non-football fans, I cannot fathom a casual fan sitting through any significant part of a four hour pregame.Bud Adams told me the franchise he admired the most was the Kansas City Chiefs. I do that. It wakes you up before you start driving.Originally posted by pbmax View PostSometimes I am traveling late, very tired and am feeling quite vulnerable!
Other times, I catch a trifecta of Iron Maiden, AC/DC and Ozzy Osbourne as I reach the homestead. Then the next morning, after I start my car, I realize I had the RADIO ON ELEVEN. VERY LOUD!!
But no, Coldplay wasn't a suggestion for the Supe Bowl halftime show, though if they brought Gweneth Paltrow out with them ..."Greatness is not an act... but a habit.Greatness is not an act... but a habit." -Greg Jennings
